The Lyrics

This is the 8th parody post in my "CSN, The Thumb Album" Parody Project. Well, on this one I'm stretching the "Thumb" theme a bit. But please note that there a number of Thumb-type replicas in the "Think of Me" package that he so thoughtfully left for his lady. You can look if you want.
(Instrumental Intro)

I sure miss you
Like to kiss you
On the road, so I no can do
But here's something I will tell you
That might help to make you not so blue, yeah

(Instrumental break)

Steps I've taken; when you 'waken, you will find toys
I have left with love
Hope that this will give you your fill
Gave those toys to you with all my love

*
Have fun with those devices
Avoid hard drugs and vices
Guess that's enough advice, yes

(Instrumental break)

Some are 'lectric, some eclectic,
just select whichever that you think will work
Which you play with, is O.K. with me,
Whatever, pick whichever works. (WHOA-O-O)

(Instrumental break)

Fantasizing, realizing, just how great this might be for you
Have an inkling, which your sinking
I think that one is just right for you (WHOA-O-O)

*
Hope you like those devices
Image I see is priceless
Keep one with you all night, yes
* This is an extra verse that you could put in place of either of the ones shown above marked with the * - I wrote this because the lyric sheet I had showed 3 of those type verses but when I played the CD (many times to be sure) they are only 2 on it. So I took it out but I really liked it's here as sort of a "bonus" - Don't stick with one appliance/ There's one the size of giants/ Imagine that in my pants

Jack W & Johnny D - Thanks! Tomorrow's "CSN, The Thumb Album" entry will be "Thumbed Out (Baseball Manager's Lament)" to commemorte the opening of the baseball season in a few days. Adagio, glad you liked the read - OH...I finally rented LOTR last night, might watch it today, nursing a bum knee anyway so....

Alvin - Like your inkling. I might be ahead of myself but I have an 'inkling" you'll enjoy tomorrow's "Thumb" parody, too. I just came on-line to submit it now. Thanks.

DKTOS, but i liked the subtlety of it...i am glad you didn't use that alternate line. Hope you are enjoying the Rings movie as much as most of the world. ;)

Agrimorfee - Thank, had a rough day, health-wise and just slept, but maybe I'll watch it today.

This song has a ring to it. You might need an index. Especially the middle. Pinky and the Brain would love it. Let's all give Paul a hand!

(ABC) Paul, you have a wonderfully warped talent for taking a hilariously bent idea and changing it into something delightfully twisted ... yikes, some of your ideas remind me of mine ... you might very well wonder if that's a good thing!
Paul Robinson - August 24, 2004 - Report this comment
Rick - sounds like you've got this one 'fingered out'. At least 4/5 of it. Hey, what about my thumb? JD - Yeah, some similar observations and thoughts have crossed my mind when reading some of your stuff. You know, it's nice to have a "like" mind around when you write warped stuff because you know that even if nobody else 'gets it' or thinks it's funny there is still a fairly decent chance to connect to at least one person. Helps avoid that "one-hand clapping' feeling sometimes...OH...a "loose" theory here, JD...think "Connecticut" "1950's" "Nutmeg State" "Something in the water, maybe on purpose by the military"(mostly just kidding on that last one). I was thinking the other night that it's too bad my Mother lived in such a repressed era, because she was an absolute "Word Wizard"...makes me look like a Jr. High School Kid, but there was no way she could allow her mind to go where it would and then write it out. But I remember hearing all these marvelously clever little "aside" type remarks and even, on rare occasions where someone was being a complete jerk, caught some incredibly innocent and proper sounding remarks that carried some rather sharper additional sub-text meaning. So anyway, Yeah, expressing the "bent ideas" is a good thing. Sometimes I like to think of writing out the weird stuff as "Mental Flossing". You just gotta do it...

(ABC) Don't know the original, and this was a bit bizarre, but enjoyable. Wonder if there'll be one about an ingrown thumbnail.....
Paul Robinson - August 25, 2004 - Report this comment
Phil, thanks for looking in, glad you enjoyed the read. Hmmm...Well, I hate to break the suspense, but there was no "Ingrown Thumbnail" parody in my project. I did all ten songs sometime around February or March earlier this year. But I'll give you the parody titles here in case you want to look in on them, even though it sounds like you are not familiar with the 1969 debut album of Crosby, Stills & Nash (Yes, this is kind of a self-promotional plug, but I'm kinda proud of how my Project turned out. I announced I was gonna do it before I had any idea what I would do with most of the songs) So, In track order: (1) Sweet: Got Me New Thumbs, (2) Thumbed Out(A Baseball Manager's Lament), (3) Thumb-In-Ear, (4) Why'd You Thumb My Eye, You Crazy Bitch, (5) Pre-Road Thumbs, (6) Thumb-Thing In The Way: Removed Me (WoodenThumbs), (7) Got No Thumb On My Wipe Hand, (8) Carelessly Chopping (Would You Like Thumb Soup?), (9) Long Time Thumbin', (10) Only 9 Fingers (Missing A Thumb). And let me add that I had an absolute ball working through this project and was really pleased by the positive responses I got in return.

Paul, I find all of your stuff interesting, and this one is no exception! Good job (but wierd!) Muwahahaha!

Thanks, Per! Interesting, but weird - I couldn't ask for a better compliment!

(ABC) DKTOS, and this one snuck by me, so no time to d'ld it..., but I'll give you 5 for pacing since everyone else did. Were those really BIG thumbs...? ;-)
Paul Robinson - August 28, 2004 - Report this comment
Well, Mer, 'thumb' of them were and 'thumb' of them were not. It was an 'assorted' bag of goodies, ya know...Thanks for stopping by.
Phil Alexander - August 29, 2004 - Report this comment
Kind of odd... only just realized that I do know the original song :-)
