helplessly choking
the poor diner
suffers and writhes
awaiting a burp
chomping on chicken
now wishing he'd clear it
he's flushed
looking like he'll die
and then he slips
to the floor
where he lies

some folks are watching
while some face the window
and shudder
while yet others run outside
frantically clutching
his neck
he worries
could this act mean goodbye ?

was it just chicken ?
was it chicken bones ?
could it be the gizzard ?
he's engorged...and smothered

must clear his airways
yes, that much is certain
i tell you
there's no denying
no use to attempt it
with fingers
one way to unblock
is shoving on his gut

just takes one person
'round the waist, arms thrown
then they push together
food is forced...asunder
