The Lyrics

If anyone wants to dispute the decade, I looked it up and it said 1969...
Bagpipes are playin' in my head
When they play Amazing Grace their faces turn bright red
Nothin' in their lungs
Those bagpipes are playin' in my head, they keep playin'

The Advil helps for a while, oh, but then
The pain comes back once the Scotsmen start to play again
Sleepin's really hard
These bagpipes are playin' in my head, they keep playin'

Guess there's one thing to do
If you can't beat them, join them; it's good for you
It won't be long til sleep finally takes over me

Bagpipes are playin' in my head
And that only shows I really should have gone to bed
When i was told to
Cuz I'm never gonna stop the noise by not sleepin'
But I don't sleep
Nothing's helpin' me sleep

It won't be long till sleep finally takes over me

Bagpipes are playin' in my head
And that only shows I really should have gone to bed
When i was told to
Cuz I'm never gonna stop the noise by not sleepin'
But I don't sleep

Ach! A great song about the "agony bags"! Reminds me of a road trip with my Dad once....couldn't get the sound outta my head for days!
Tim Mayfield - March 09, 2005 - Report this comment
Ash, Too funny! Also, weird, cause I have to add an 'Amazing Grace' bagpipe recording by the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards to a video slideshow I am working on.

Alvin - thanks. Normally I don't mind bagpipes but when you've got them stuck in your head, they don't leave! DiscoStu - same thing... didn't know they were called agony bags though... amusing. And Tim... random, neh? Hehe thank you all for voting!

Do bagpipes have faces?
Ash - March 10, 2005 - Report this comment
No, but it was only a reference to the bagpipers. Sorry if you didn't like it :-\ Guess I should try harder next time?

(SOTM) Love the take on this song. Love to here the parody done with bagpipe accompaniment.

(SOTM) Nice job...though I'm a fan of the pipes myself. 5s anyway.

There ya go, Ash, tartan yourself up again... Why do bagpipes sound so bad? Because, in the words of the greatest Scotsman of them all, "Ye canna change th' laws o' physics!"
Agrimorfee - April 14, 2005 - Report this comment
(SOTM) Yes, it WOULD be cool to hear this one on the pipes, esp. during the fast tempo horn section.
Melhi - April 15, 2005 - Report this comment
(SOTM) Could be worse, could be a lead pipe stuck in your head. (Just trying to help!) Funny stuff, Ash. :)

I'd say drop the Advil, sooth yourself with Scotch.

(SOTM) I think we'd all rather smoke a bag of dope in a pipe than listen to a dope smoke a bagpipe.
Stuart McArthur - April 26, 2005 - Report this comment
(SOTM) gee, altho I'm not he, DiscoStu's comment above applies to me as well, as my dad played the bagpipes - no road trip tho - they're so bizarre, that's what'll keep them going - nice work Ash
Scathe - April 27, 2005 - Report this comment
(SOTM) I guess bagpipe music is an acquired taste.

There are only three songs that can be played on bagpipes - and two of them are "Amazing Grace."

Nice job, Ash. Ditto Guy's desire to hear this with a bagpipe solo. (Hey - it helped "Mull of Kintyre" sell millions.)
Tim Mayfield - May 01, 2005 - Report this comment
(SOTM) Loved it.
