The Lyrics

This is a response to billy florio's recent parody saying to bomb iraq. And yes i know i said i'd be taking a bit of a longer break but i got tired of homework. I also know its not funny... its not supposed to be
How many bad men must be thrown out
Just for one more to emerge?
Yes 'n' are citizens better off with war
Than with a dictator's purge?
Yes 'n' we have been told awful things 'bout Saddam
Can we believe what we've heard?
The answer, Billy, is beyond you and me
The answer is beyond you and me

How many innocent men must die
In order to get Saddam?
Yes a soldier who dies can be replaced
In the fight but not to his mom
Yes 'n' how many generations will suffer
The awful effects of the bombs?
The answer, Billy, is beyond you and me
The answer is beyond you and me

How many kids would be able to eat
With the cash we'll use for war?
Yes 'n' will democracy work well in a place
That has never had it before?
Yes 'n' how many times will we march off to fight
With the repercussions ignored?
The answer, Billy, is beyond you and me
The answer is beyond you and me

While I think we should bomb Iraq, I think that Tone-def has paced this song pretty good!

thanks everyone for blasting my song because you dont agree with my point of view. thats always appreciated. and anyway im not saying that iraq should definitely not be bombed just that the consequences should be thought about a little more

My perspective is closer to the Billy/Michael Florio perspective, but I think that tone-def has expressed some profound questions very thoughtfully (expecially if it was just written during a homework break!).

I must say Tone-def, Your song is well written (I think I voted it 4, 1, 3), anyway, you already know I dont agree with it, but Im glad that my parody made someone get up and write a counter parody to it. What would life be if we all had the same opinions. Criticism and dissention make parody writing even more interesting. ;-)

tone-def.. welcome to William Tong's world.. for every five vote he gets, he gets plenty of all ones just because people don't like his viewpoint.. I'm surprised his get as many positive votes as they do to be honest.. not that his parodies are bad, but just because there's enough people who dislike his viewpoint to vote him down.. plus you can't expect to get a very high "funny" vote count if the parody isn't meant to be funny..

darn good parody, and I appreciate the sentiments, too. Bet our politics don't match up, but you're a fine writer.
Michael Pacholek - July 14, 2003 - Report this comment
Well, my politics match up with his, at least on this issue. I thought it was pretty damn good -- not that it was pretty, but that's the point. As Gene Roddenberry taught us, "War is a very messy business. A very, very messy business." It's not a game. Is it, Georgie?
