The Lyrics

dedicated to merry.....who LOVES those rolling stones.....
once upon a time, they played so fine
younger at the time and in their prime
thrilling you
what a ball, how they enthralled, a sonic wall
oh how they were just...fulfilling you
they used to...romp about
jagger's lip was always...hangin' out
now they don't...play as loud
now they don't...seem so proud
no longer they're expounded...as some big deal

still a big deal
that's how i feel
sure i miss brian jones
mick taylor....please come home
but all their discs i won
like those rolling stones

they went to the highest heights so lofty
jagger strutted all around the stage with his....rooster bit
and ol' charley layin' down such a monster beat
and keith bending all of his guitar strings and just...juicin' it
those days, they would never...compromise
but years go on and you soon...realize
they seem smaller, stature-wise
maybe squarer than some new groups....in some eyes
i say they are still tops...in their field

still a big deal
that's how i feel
sure i miss brian jones
mick taylor....please come home
but all their discs i won
like those rolling stones

the sixties turned 'round....and we all found
things were jumbled all around...we were all brought down...and seekin'....kicks, anew
the band just did what they could....and brought in ronnie wood
and he was so slick with all his guitar tricks....so good....yes, its true
richards gave up horse... and....left it flat
the monkey on his shoulder.....no longer sat
shook his head and uttered that was that
a drug dependence just ain't...where its at
for after all it is your essence, dope will steal

still a big deal
that's how i feel
sure i miss brian jones
mick taylor....please come home
but all their discs i won
like those rolling stones

there are many people....who have knelt down at their steeple
all dancin, prancin'...at the...promenade
their music was a precious gift
and afterward the fan' ears rang....with all the...sounds they made
we used to be ...so enthused
with the bedlam from the amps...from the instruments they used
i listen now...they rock me....i'm still amused
some say they got nothin'.....they are only confused
they're all in their sixties now....but i still seek them....cause i feel

still a big deal
that's how i feel
sure i miss brian jones
mick taylor....please come home
but all their discs i won
like those rolling stones

I saw the Rolling Stones at Ohio State in 1997 and they still have it. When I saw them I noticed how much they've influenced so many bands I listened to in my teens as well as now. After all, this band invented hard rock, setting the stage for heavy metal, punk, grunge and other styles. Mick's snarling vocals are a building block for punk rock and his extensive use of body language is influential too. I like the Rolling Stones too. They are legends. 555

Glad to see you (and Leo Keough) back... great work, and 5s. Could your reappearance, Agrimorfee submitting a parody, and Leo chiming in here predict a resurgence of the great veteran authors?
