The Lyrics

I figure this one might have some resonance after the Holidays. I noticed when I did a search that no one has used this beautiful Bob Dylan song on this site before. The OS is from Dylan's "Bringing It All Back Home" album. FYI - the late Rick Nelson did a real nice cover version of this one, but there's nothing wrong with the way Dylan sounds on his original.
[brief instrumental intro]

I eat everything I see
I'm so obese
My ass is fat
I eat much more than I need
that's gross, man
And that's a fact
I get in my car every night to
go get a midnight snack

Food I like is fat'ning
all of it is packed with calories
My gut I am packing
On the scale I see "three-thirty-three"
Now I cannot see my penis
at the can when I try to pee

My spouse, she grumbles
"You're way too fat now, Paul"
Each night I'm humbled
"No sex tonight, Fat Paul"
My fat ass; not desired
my wife won't touch me at all

[instrumental break]

Well, being fat's really stinky
it's no fun in the least
Folks stare when you're out shopping
Look at you like you're a freak
You speak to chicks; not impressed, sir
Not fun at all to be obese

Chow down at brunch each Sunday
More food you pack into your gut
Eat mounds of food; your gut sways
Your suit has split around your butt
All that you eat; it's made you fat, man
You must quit or you will stay plump

[brief instrumental out to end fade]

Happy New Year Paul! A very "filling" parody after the New Years Celebrations! Reminds me of Christmas DInner! Anyway 3 tasty 5 votes for you! What did you think of my very first SOTM entry "Snakes On His Plane" (The Clash - Rock The Casbah)?

That is as good as the video by Wierd Al's "Fat" which was a parody of Michael Jackson's "Bad".

As another Paul would say, "Boy, you're gonna carry that weight."

555 yuks on the funny scale! By the way, The Duprees recorded that song, originally. I love Dylan's version though, and would love to hear Ricky Nelson's take on it.

This shoulda been the theme song for the recent MSNBC special on the obesity epidemic.... Here's an idea: If ya can't lose weight, then get a longer penis! 555

"Now I cannot see my penis"; yes, that is definitely the time to lose weight, lol. I'd give you 4s to help you lose some weight, but this deserves the full-calorie 5s.

Thanks, guys (and dolls)...I've been up to my arse in work today, so I haven't been able to look in until just now. Yoidy, I didn't know the Duprees did this one...I'm not even sure I know who the Duprees are, although they sound familiar. Nelson's version was real nice...it was very true to Dylan's original in pace and all...Nelson had "nicer" voice than Dylan, I suppose, but I really think Dylan's voice is very effective on this type of song.
