The Lyrics

Leonard Nimoy died today
And we’re all sad he went away
twas quite a shock
A harsh reminder years are fleeting
Seems no time passed since first greeting
A man named Spock

The Star Trek franchise how it’s grown
But friends it wasn’t always so
Two years and gone
A letter writing campaign started
By some fans who sorely smarted
So it held on

But sabataage was in the works
Perpetrated by those jerks
The network heads
They didn’t have the brains to see
How big their property could be
They wished it dead

Kirk and crew lived on you see
In re-run perpetuity
A cult was born
The Trekkie movement soon was risin’
Peopled by those selling fries and
Girlfriends forsworn

And Leonard we’ll miss you
As you boldly go
You lived long and prospered
Long after the show

As Spock your logic was sublime
And how you used to read a mind was
A sight to see
Your Vulcan neck pinch put ‘em down
You never failed to astound
a tyke like me

And when you greeted old T’Pau
That hand salute was really, wow!
and hard to do
I used to practice every day
And learned to do it every way
To be like you

And Leonard we’ll miss you
We all raise our cup
You fade from our presence
With a curt “Beam me up”

One day we turned around to see
How old you were, apparently
We shrugged it off
An actor of the finest kind
But to your hardships we were blind
It made us scoff

And now we face reality
That no more Spock will ever be but
That Sylar guy
That’s a notion too depressing
That I find myself distressing
I want to cry

Leonard Nimoy died today
And we’re all sad he went away
twas quite a shock
A harsh reminder years are fleeting
Seems no time passed since first greeting
A man named Spock

Nice tribute. Cute dig at the "Trekkies", too. Amazing how this short-run series, canned without a thought by the network, could spring back to become a long-running film and TV franchise. Maybe there's hope yet for "Jericho". I feel a bit of sympathy for an actor who has to have those pointed ears applied every day. Same goes for one of Nimoy's TV heirs, LeVar Burton, who spent his Star Trek days wearing a car's air filter over his eyes.

Dear Lord this is going to be my most uneven rating yet but... 525 not all that funny but then again I suppose that wasn't the intention the truth is I'm more into "Star Wars" than "Star Trek" myself and didn't know much about Mr. Nimoy but this darn near moved me to tears! well done! and hopefully Spock's been enjoying his time since God beamed him up

Jonathan, the only difference between Spock and Yoda was that Spock was green on the inside.

Hated the OS - a vast improvement. Star Trek was great theater.
