The Lyrics

Here's a LOST song from Sawyer's perspective as he tries to win Kate's affection early in season one.
When I was boldly shooting a bear,
Why'd you have a cow?
Thanks to me, the scouting party's doing fine.
Your revulsion should be a sign
You'll never be attracted to me.
Still, I'm not so sure.
If you take chances with second glances,
Will you like me more?

You have secrets too.
If you sing like a bird,
I'll share mine with you.

I don't know why you flatly refuse,
Thinkin' it's a con.
Princess, is it prejudice or is it pride?
You won't see my sensitive side.
If I try harder, grovel and plead
On the jungle floor,
If you take chances with second glances,
Will you like me more?

We could help each other warm our bodies
In the dead of night, if I'm bein' clear.
If you'd only cave,
I'd prove that I can be
More than just a knave.

Now that you've tossed my heart on the line,
Here's the thing to do:
Ditch the doc - he's much too busy anyway,
Bossin' us around every day.
Pity the one who fell for your charm.
Dine with me on boar.
If you take chances with second glances,
Will you like me more?

Bil - I'm not "Lost" on this one. Thanks to DVR technology I was able to catch each and every episode of the series. I'll admit that at first I thought the ending was a let down but then again how else could it have ended? IMHO it has been the very best show on TV, ever. I'm kind of down now that it is no more but what a ride while it lasted.

Great write - you've captured Sawyer's character dead on.

This write deserves a shoutout - attention all "Lost" fans this is a must read.

I'm changing the code with the 108 minute timer to all 5's.

Thanks very much, Guy! That Sawyer's such a scallywag, but it's so fun to try to get in his head...I'm kinda down about the show ending too. Hard to foresee a show coming along anytime soon that'll engross me so much.

If Sawyer had only had *this* to sing to Kate... How could she have refused? :)

Hehe, thanks, Fiddlegirl! You know, I can't recall Sawyer *ever* singing on the show... That's a phenomenon I would've enjoyed hearing!

Another winner. It flows very nicely, and ditto Guy's remarks. 5s.

I'd like to return the favor of your kindly reading my song, and Fiddlegirl's and my joint effort, but looking through this week, they're all about TV shows I don't watch -- Lost, American Idol, Sesame Street, and even Winnie the Pooh... truth be told, I pretty much stay in my shell on my coral reef, under the water and as "far from the madding crowd" as possible, coming up for a breath long enough to post an occasional parody or two.

Still, will be watching for something I can truly appreciate, and again, nice to meet you. - TT.

Thanks, Warren! :) Pleasure to "meet" you, Tommy, and looking forward to reading more of your work! Pop culture is my favorite subject, but I have a few more general ones up my sleeve...
