The Lyrics

An, twegen, thrie, feower
An, twegen...

From Germania-land we came hie
So Brits now have a Heptarchy
'Cause I'm a Saxon, yeah, I'm a Saxon

A thegn I am, keep lots of thralls
And Aethel, Aelf or Aed I'm called
'Cause I'm a Saxon, yeah, I'm a Saxon

I love Beowulf and all his deeds
And the Witan's fit to rule our needs
Fam'ly gets weregild if I am slain
When we slake from horns, it's mead we drain

Saxon!
'Cause I'm a Saxon, yeah, I'm a Saxon

Yon house is wood 'cos stone's ignored
(Tally stick to reckon)
Accrued a fyrd to play some war
(Hall to hold a feast)
'Cause I'm a Saxon, yeah, I'm a Saxon

Now if suf-fix is 'thorpe' or "by' (Saxon!)
I swear it wasn't named by me (Saxon!)
'Cause I'm a Saxon, yeah, I'm a Saxon
And we're cocky 'til comes Bill the C...

William the Conqueror put an end to all that Saxon violence. Because of him, the only people who hear the words "Stamford Bridge" anymore are British historians and the occasional "football" fan.
