Usually when I write a parody, its too fresh in the minds of people to be funny (e.g. "Binnie Laden and the Jets"), but I think enough time has passed on this one...
A DAY IN THE LIFE (of a shuttle)
I heard the news today, oh boy
About some astronauts who made the grade
And though the news was rather sad
Well, I just had to laugh
I saw the photograph
They blew their mind out in a shuttle
They didnt notice that the sky had changed
A crowd of people stood and stared
They'd seen this sight before
Nobody was really sure
If it was Challenger once more
I saw a film today, oh boy
The Columbia had just blown to bits
A crowd of people turned away
But I just had to look
Having read the book
I'd love to turn you on
Woke up, fell out of bed
Dragged a comb across my head
Found my way to the kitchen and drank a cup
And looking up I noticed I was late
Found my coat and grabbed my hat
Made the bus in seconds flat
Found my hidden stash and had a smoke
Somebody spoke and I fell into a dream

4,000 pieces spread across Texas
And though debris was rather fried
They had to find it all
Now they know how many wrecks it takes

"but I think enough time has passed on this one..." maybe not, judging from the votes. a good rule of thumb is to wait ten years after a tragedy to try to parody it. not bad, just way too soon
