The Lyrics

I liked to sing fragments of this song as "Revenge" just for fun for years. In memory of Aretha Franklin who just passed away, I now present to you a full parody about the concept of revenge.
What I want
Is a little payback
What I need
Is retribution
All I'm askin'
Is for a little revenge on those that hurt me (just a little bit)
Yeah baby (just a little bit) those that hurt me
(just a little bit) payback (just a little bit)

I am gonna give them what they deserve
I'm gonna give all those that hurt me what for
All I'm askin'
Is for a little revenge on those that hurt me (just a little bit)
Yeah baby (just a little bit) those that hurt me
Yeah (just a little bit)

I'm about to give them, eye for an eye now
And now I'm giving to them my reprisal
Because it is so proper to
Hurt those that hurt me (just a, just a, just a, just a)
Yeah baby (just a, just a, just a, just a)
Hurt those that hurt me (just a, just a, just a, just a)
Yeah (just a little bit)

[instrumental break]

Ooh my vengeance
Sweeter than honey
And guess what?
It was about money
All I wanted to do to them
Is get my revenge on those that hurt me (re, re, re, re)
Yeah baby (re, re, re ,re)
Send my wrath now (revenge, just a little bit)
To those that hurt me, now)

R-E-V-E-N-G-E
Find out what it means to me
R-E-V-E-N-G-E
Tooth for tooth, baby

Oh (get back at them, get back at them,
get back at them, get back at them)
A little revenge (get back at them, get back at them,
get back at them, get back at them)
Yeah now (just a little bit)
A little revenge (just a little bit)
I get happy (just a little bit)
Keep on spitein' (just a little bit)
They're runnin' out of time now (just a little bit)
And I ain't lyin' (just a little bit)
(re, re, re, re) 'venge
On those that hurt me (re, re, re re)
Oh they might find out (revenge, just a little bit)
That it's best served cold (just a little bit)
I got to have (just a little bit)
A little revenge (just a little bit)

Clever, and a fine tribute. In my parody, I asked for just a little R-E-S-P-I-T-E from those folks who were bugging me. Looks like you needed to take it to the next level. :)

Otis Redding wrote and recorded the song first, asking for respect from his wife when he comes home.

^^^^^ Someone should tell Otis that if he wants more respect from his wife, he should do more with his life than just sit on the dock of The Bay, watching the tide roll away

Personally, Jonathan, I think if Otis ain't "got nothing to live for" and "nothing is gonna come his way" because he "left his home in Georgia" then maybe he should "leave on the Midnight Train to Georgia" and go home. Cause it sure looks like Frisco "proved too much for the man."
