Song Parodies -> "Yesteryear"

Original Song Title:

"Yesterday"

Original Performer:

Airfarcewon

Parody Song Title:

"Yesteryear"

Parody Written by:

Airfarcewon

The Lyrics

Yesteryear,
I'm an advocate of Yesteryear
Then is when a lot more fun was here
I reminisce of Yesteryear

Yesteryear,
When the price of gas was more sincere
Needed no hock shop for smokes and beer,
Oh I'm obsessed with yesteryear

Why'd it have to leave, makes me grieve.
Those times were dear..
Back then, I was young, now, I'm hung on
Yesteryear,

Yesteryear,
Wish there was a way to bring it here?
If they'd build a time machine, I'd cheer
And pack my bags for Yesteryear

Sixties was my time, in my prime
Unsagged rear
Now my mem'ry strays
To firm days, Yesteryear..

Brown, not gray,
Would curl up around my ear
Wheels of time weren't rolling in high gear,
And "Yes" I'd hear in Yesteryear...

A "Yes" I'd hear in Yesteryear..

Mm-mm-mm-mm-mm-mm-mm

Ah, yes, those '60s. 'Twas a fun time, to be sure, from folk and surf outset thru' Britrock and Motown middle to psychedelic wind-up. OTOH, I've always tried to think like Carly Simon: "... these are the good old days." :-)

Yes I cheer! Well done Mr. Farce. I often wish for those simpler times as did my parents for what they called more sensible times. The kids today think the 60s were dull and full of old fogey idealists. I have a 16 year old with this very mindset, and I can relate. His kids will think the same of his youth as did our parents' generation did of ours. Very well written and so true. Thanks for the blink back to the past. I enjoyed this very much. Fresh and original.

An after-thought - Carly Simon said it best in her "Anticipation" song:

"And stay right here 'cause these are the good old days"

Mr Critic - March 04, 2008 - Report this comment
Hey, wait a sec? Isn't the Beatles the original performer of this song? The parody author's name shouldn't be the original artist! That doesn't make sense!
Guy - March 04, 2008 - Report this comment
Dear Mr. Critic - Please give the Farce a break - it is obviously an honest mistake. Who are you anyway? I believe that the Farce has a right to know who is pointing out his oversight. Did you also throw the ones at him too, hiding behind your computer screen?

Mr. Critic: Actually I am one of the Beatles, just posing undercover as a parody writer..But I guess I accidently let the cat out of the bag now, Damn!............and thanks, Guy for your vote, comment and support.....and also thanks to Stan
Poop Pants - March 04, 2008 - Report this comment
Yeah right. If that were true, then Dick Van Dyke's given name would have to be Penis Van Lesbian. Still, even though this parody is top notch, you should still resubmit it with the correct info, like Mister Critic said.

Yeah - There is always a critic in the crowd. Let's just ignore that person, ok? Hey Critic person - I'm ignoring you. ( o )

The critic can just kiss my ASCII character set.

AFW & "Mr. Critic" -- The Kingston Trio have something to say about this matter you're discussing. Their "comment" should appear among tomorrow's postings. :-)

Thanks, alvin...and Guy, again...and Mr. Poop Pants, a great name, by the way, how did you ever come up with that? and thanks, Stan...Hmmm, Kingston Trio.. I'll be watching for it
AFW - March 04, 2008 - Report this comment
Thanks, IB...those are the most important things to remember, anyway
Guy - March 04, 2008 - Report this comment
IB - Please forgive me but your ref to Netbuoi has me at a loss. Are you perhaps referring to - NetBEUI (NetBIOS Extended User Interface) by chance? If so it really doesn't have a lot in common with ASCII as ASCII is a character set and NetBEUI is a routing protocol. Somehow you lost me on that comment.

Sir L'air du Farce, ~Duke of Edge~ this is very beautiful . . . I refer to it as the "Kamelot Years" 1957 ~ 1963. Definetely the height of civilization USA. Sir, you are not alone in your desire for them! . . . Spring is here, and that means old car shows!
