The Lyrics

My dad's a geologist and owns a small mining company. After hearing the song I am a Paleontologist in a commercial on TV, I decided to rewrite the song from his point of view. The song contains many inside jokes for his employees. The chorus and last verse is a reference towards my dad wasting food (usually pizza), something his employees strongly look down upon but cannot stop since he pays for it. Other inside jokes include Skye and Hal who must work together but don't get along, constantly asking my dad to resolve their minor disputes and Jake, a young assistant who my dad fears will get his directions mixed up and drive south to Quesnel instead of north to Bear Lake (two small Canadian towns) like he is supposed to.
I love drivin’ a big truck
To the sushi bar
Dodge Ram or GMC
But never a sports car
Cuz I’ve got my flashing lights
For all those roadside rocks
Gotta get back into Prince George
In a race against the clock

And all the kids
From Alberta
Can watch me throw
Out a pizza

I am a geologist
That's who I am, that's who I am, that's who I am
I am a geologist
That's who I am, that's who I am, that's who I am

Jake is driving to Bear Lake
This is some serious stress
Can he even find the way
Gotta get him a GPS
If directions aren’t your forte
Then I’m the one to tell
I need him up in Bear Lake
I don’t want him down in Quesnel

I don’t have
No amnesia
I just want
To throw out a pizza

I am a geologist
That's who I am, that's who I am, that's who I am
I am a geologist
That's who I am, that's who I am, that's who I am

I just got a call from Skye
She don’t wanna work with Hal
He wants to use a Sharpie
But she wants to use a felt
It's like teaching kindergarten
The problems I have to solve
Will you read the fucking manual
Can I call this one resolved

I don’t care
If your name is Lisa
I will still
Throw out this pizza

I am a geologist
That's who I am, that's who I am, that's who I am
I am a geologist
That's who I am, that's who I am, that's who I am

Now the day is almost done
Time to get something to eat
Show up at Daddy-O’s
I’ve got the executive’s seat
I ordered too much food
I was full long ago
I can’t take it all with me
Guess where’s this pizza’s gonna go

You should know
It’s not just pizza
I also throw
Out lasagna

I am a geologist
That's who I am, that's who I am, that's who I am
I am a geologist
That's who I am, that's who I am, that's who I am
I am a geologist
That's who I am, that's who I am, that's who I am
I am a geologist
That's who I am, that's who I am, that's who I am
That's who I am, that's who I am, that's who I am
That's who I am, that's who I am, that's who I am
