The Lyrics

True story of my first BB gun bought at age 10. Funny thing was that my dad bought me a .22 rifle at age 7 and I was shooting that since then and in the Cub Scouts when they went shooting back in the 1970s. My dad died at age 10 and mom finally let me have a BB gun as she sold my dad's rifles for money. But she still kept my dad's .38 snub-nose that I was allowed to fire at adult-controlled events! My little brother was jealous of my dad's gun, so he got mom to buy him a .38-looking blank shooter at Woolco which he got into much trouble over b/c from a distance it looked real. Anyway, I decided on Daisy vs Crosman b/c I loved the lever-action instead of slide-action. I would later buy a $600 German import air gun that shot at high fps but it was a total waste and no fun. It shot right through glass bottles w/o breaking them!!! Meanwhile the Daisy I had I wore out. Miss that rifle a lot. Nowadays one can get any type of assault rifle looking air gun for hundreds of dollars as well as accurate military looking pistols. I bought a Walther clone for around $60 on sale at Big 5 a long time ago but sold it. No air guns around the house anymore :(
Dough, dough, dough, dough
Got to get a Daisy

Dough, dough, dough, dough
Got to get a Daisy

Daisy!
Crosman?
Daisy!
Crosman?
Daisy!
Crosman?
Daisy!
Air guns!

Model 99 costs more than pennies
That lever-action rifle with BBs
10 years old, must have it or go insane
Yard-shooting at the animals and trees

The best found, best found, found
Need 20 bucks now, need 20 bucks now

[Chorus]
I’m just a Ten Year Old, that rifle is so cool
So I gotta get a Daisy, BBs
I’m just a Ten Year Old, that rifle is so cool
So I gotta get a Daisy, BBs

Dough, dough, dough, dough
Got to get a Daisy

Dough, dough, dough, dough
Got to get a Daisy

Daisy!
Crosman?
Daisy!
Crosman?
Daisy!
Crosman?
Daisy!
Air guns!

I couldn’t love a gun so purely
I wish that I could get my mom to pay
Saved all my allowance I can
But I still need a little more money

The best found, best found, found
Need 20 bucks now, need 20 bucks now

I’m just a Ten Year Old, that rifle is so cool
So I gotta get a Daisy, BBs
I’m just a Ten Year Old, that rifle is so cool
So I gotta get a Daisy, BBs

Dough, dough, dough, dough
Got to get a Daisy

Dough, dough, dough, dough
Got to get a Daisy

[Bridge]
In the most practical sense,
Need to save my allowance
Famed shooter, dollars and cents, worth the time
But in the cultural sense
At 10, I just cannot rest
Daisy, she is just the best,
I have wanted one since age nine

I wanna buy you,
Bike on down to the K-Mart and get you
Just can‘t wait to shoot you,
99 is the Model I cling to
I cling to

I’m just a Ten Year Old, that rifle is so cool
So I gotta get a Daisy, BBs
I’m just a Ten Year Old, that rifle is so cool
So I gotta get a Daisy, BBs

Dough, dough, dough, dough
Got to get a Daisy

Dough, dough, dough, dough
Got to get a Daisy

Daisy!
Crosman?
Daisy!
Crosman?
Daisy!
Crosman?
Daisy!
Air guns!

In the lyrics I am using a Model 99 but am not sure what exact model I had in 1974... or how much it really cost. I think it was more like $17!

I could identify with this since I had a .410 at around that age and we also had some .22s and other hunting guns around the house.

Having owned, borrowed, or shot literally hundreds of legal, illegal, pre-ban, and improvised weapons, I must say that some of my fondest memories are from when I was a kid and had my share of BB guns, replicas, blank shooters, and toy guns. I still keep a pic of me "patrolling" my back yard as a kid dressed in a military outfit my mom made me along with my dad's USMC cap armed with Mattel's M-16! I also later owned a metal KSC replica from Japan of the Robocop gun (modified Baretta M-93R 3-rd burst TMP). This was before the orange tips and that thing looked and felt real. I showed it to a Sheriff that said displaying that in public would warrant a Tac Team!!! Those were the days!!!
