Enforce current gun laws, and extend to shows. Problem is that gun enthusiasts are initially in favor of banning guns to loonies and then they back off, defending ownership, for example, to war vets with PTSD. I prefer not to vote.
In my experience, I find that some people are comfortable around guns and others are afraid of them. Since I have had all types and began shooting at age 7, they don't bother me and I am never impressed by customs and the big .50 cals. I agree with enforcing current laws as many felons lie on DOJ paperwork, but the psychos will never go away no matter what. Even if they cannot legally purchase, then CAN gain access to family and friends guns that are not locked up and ammo stored. I always keep my guns and ammo locked away with the guns unloaded. In event of break-in I can easily get to my saferoom and quickly load the pre-loaded mags into my pistols and sporters. The tac shotgun can be loaded easily too but I would grab a sporter first and a pistol second. I also keep a Puma combat knife and an electrical weapon plus sprays in special places around the house. I have never been attacked in home nor robbed. I have been mugged before when unarmed but lost little-
was early 1980s. They never got the keys to my new sportbike so I wasn't even upset, really. Since I have had access to military arms through contacts and have been able to visit facilities in Az and Tx, I have been able to fire a lot of exotic arms and have knowldege of ACR development for decades (many kept out of sight of the public). I am the exception rather than the rule, so I accept that others might fear guns. but once you take a gun safety course and can understand the weapon, its function, practice safety, and be able to field strip and clean your gun... it is nothing special. I compare it to working on one's car and driving it responsibly; after all cars kill more people per year than guns and so do alcohol and smoking. People don't seem to make much fuss about those ;-)
Glad you opened this one. Most of the public and the media don't realize that there are three types of gun control laws, each with a different purpose, effect, and degree of enforcement. The first, and most important, are those that punish criminal acts of violence committed by persons using guns. The second attempt, with little effect, to limit or restrict access to arms by certain persons. The third are technical laws regulating the design, cosmetics, functions, dimensions or accessories related to arms. These technical matters have very little to do with the average criminal, who can carry out a robbery with a flintlock pistol just as easily as an assault rifle, as long as his victims aren't capable or disposed to resist. When liberals call for gun control, they tend to mean the second and third types. Gun enthusiasts, not inclined to shoot back, know that these technical rules are the ones most likely to be vigorously enforced, since the targets pose the least risk to the enforcers. It's easier to tackle a little old lady with her WWII veteran's souvenir MP-40 than to take on a 20 year old hop head with an Owl Head .32 that he won't hesitate to use.
liberals - one in a million gun owners, usually a criminal or government drugged up kid, kills someone with a gun, and all gun owners are dangerous and bad. YET, one in a million muslims is a true terrorist who kills innocent infidels and yet THEY are all good. liberals, always stealing the workers money, redistributing it for votes, and lying about what's in their 2000+ page policies the idiot voters all vote for without reading. idiots.
