The Lyrics

A new parody-of-a-parody off JAB's series! This one deals with the snake as it was in the Garden of Eden. I am using both Biblical material from Genesis AND non-Biblical Jewish resources to fill-in gaps about the snake and it's possible motive for deceiving Eve. Just as Satan (Halel) was the highest in creation as angel (perfect in strength, beauty, and knowledge), the snake was the highest of the animal creation. It was created a warm-blooded mammal (what would later be referred to as a "Beast of the Field") that had the ability to walk upright like a man or Kangaroo. It could reach up to trees to pull fruit and was covered in a shiny gloss skin that reflected the sun and produced a rainbow of colors. A magnificent beast. But why did it deceive Eve? Two factors. IT was NOT forbidden to eat of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good & Evil and so it gained knowledge. That's where Satan stepped in and filled its mind with evil- to deceive Eve b/c the snake prior to HER creation had a relationship with the man, Adam. When she was created the snake became as nothing compared to Eve's feminine beauty and it lost the man's attention. So it sought to deceive her and it was successful, leaving Adam to choose between God's rules and his wife. He chose his wife and condemned mankind to original sin, which Jesus as both man/God had to defeat by living a perfect life with His human nature and then dying on the Cross, shedding Divine blood (Cross symbolic of the tree of transgression). Some Church folks think the snake was possessed by Satan who talked through it as if it were a dumb animal-puppet. Not so b/c God punished the snake for what IT did and said. Did all the animals have the ability to speak to man back then? Unclear, but eating off that tree gave the snake knowledge above man and just below Satan. As punishment, it was turned serpent and lost its legs, warm-blood, had its tongue split, eyes and appearance changed. Yet Jesus told his disciples to be "wise as serpents." The snake used to be a marvel of an animal just as Satan used to be a beacon of pure light- but now both are corrupted and transformed by evil.
Snake‘s the sheen one, Snake‘s the sheen one—will deceive you,
conned Eve with it’s lies, for she was yet a child
When all was new it hated you and threw you
with its soft talk; were compromised-defiled

Was not wild; warm-blood mammal glowed, reflected sun,
walked upright like Kangaroo, God’s work of art
Highest in animal creation meant,
that it shined like a rainbow, most fair
Off Forbidden Tree-eats, Snake the sheen one
Instant knowledge of good & evil made it smart!

“Why stay a child?”, said Satanic foe, the sheen one;
“Eat this fruit and from your innocence depart”
Eve didn’t fight back, lost baited attack—
naked despair: Adam followed HER
Punishment swift-complete, Snake the sheen one;
now as serpent was doomed, with a cold-blooded heart

Snake WAS the sheen one; slithers, legs gone…
Defiled here means spiritually.

Rob - Hve you ever seen John Huston's 1966 film "The Bible - In The Beginning"? It's as you have described the serpent before the downfall. He is man-like and can speak until cursed by God. There IS a parallel between the serpert being second only to man and Lucifer being second only to God! This is a work of deoth, and I thank you. ;D
