Parody Song Title:

"The Superiority of Prussian Arms"

Parody Written by:

Robert D. Arndt Jr.

The Lyrics

The Dreyse Zündnadelgewehr (Prussian Model 1841). The first practical breech-loading, bolt action military rifle, the Needle Gun, as it became known, revolutionized rifle design and led to the standardization of cartridged ammunition. Prussia became victorious with it in the Austro-Prussian War and then the Franco-Prussian War leading to the myth of superiority of Prussian Arms. This later led to the Mauser Model 1871 and then the world-famous Mauser K98 of the World Wars...
What craftsmanship, breech-loading rifle so fine
Superiority of Prussian arms
Dreyse Needle Gun, 1866 on the Prussian infantry line
Superiority of Prussian arms

(Chorus)
Superiority, Superiority, infantry’s secure from all harm
Superiority. Superiority of Prussian arms

Oh how surprising the shock to enemy infantries
The superiority of Prussian arms
Onward the Needle Gun goes from victory-to-victory
The superiority of Prussian arms

Superiority, Superiority, infantry’s secure from all harm
Superiority. Superiority of Prussian arms

What has Prussia to dread, what does Prussia have to fear?
The superiority of Prussian arms
5:1 rate of fire with our Needle Gun so dear
The superiority of Prussian arms

Superiority, Superiority, infantry’s secure from all harm
Superiority. Superiority of Prussian arms

[Victor of the Austro-Prussian and Franco-Prussian Wars]

Not sure if I'd want to shoot one of those. Paper cartridge with the cap under the bullet and only a rubber gasket between me and some burning powder. Once passed up a 71 Mauser for only $250, regretted that ever since. Principal weapon of the IRB during the Easter Rising of 1916.

Hmmm... That pic kinda reminds me of the big old Winchester special guns, and if I remember correctly, they were used mainly for execution in Mexico, ;-) 5's for your parody too! :-)

Patrick, I have to agree- prefer the latter K98k and as for muzzle-loaders my old fave would be my Brown Bess!!!
