The Lyrics

True story: When my sister was nine years old, she wrote an angry letter to ABC television, complaining that they pre-empted her favorite TV show -- The Brady Bunch -- for those "stupid Watergate hearings". Unfortunately, because every house didn't have a magic machine to make a copy of any piece of paper yet, our mom wanted to save it and she never sent the letter. So tragically, the hearings continued and we lost a GREAT PRESIDENT. Or something. Dedicated to my sister, whose name is actually "Jan"; though you'd better believe she is 100% MARCIAMARCIAMARCIA
Here’s a story -- from another time
About a very, lovely lady
She also had these -- three lovely girls
Then she hooked up with some tool named Brady

I miss -- the clothing
Today -- they all be ho--ing

I miss the Bradys’ lovely ladies
I miss the ladies of the Bradys

All you women around the world
Listen to what I have to say to you
Bell bottoms you must dig
Footballs make your nose big
And wear a really stupid wig

I miss -- old Alice
Lived in -- a TV palace

I miss the Bradys’ lovely ladies
I miss the ladies of the Bradys

Today we got the internet
But the girls are too brunette
I miss the Bradys

I miss the Bradys’ lovely ladies
I’d kiss the ladies of the Bradys
I miss the Bradys’ lovely ladies
I’d fist the ladies of the Bradys

Today we got the internet
But the girls are too brunette
I miss the Bradys

Let beaded curtains come back to be
I miss those girls, do they miss me

I miss the Bradys’ lovely ladies
I miss the ladies of the Bradys

I hope your sister appreciates this as much as I do.

This made me LOL. See my parody "Sherwood Schwartz" for another Brady (and Gilligan) perspective http://www.amiright.com/parody/2000s/radiohead12.shtml. Let's play this again next week!

Wish I could of come up with some clever so I could of joined you all. This was cute not LOL funny which is odd because Claude usually has me down on the ground laughing... Tough song to work with though. I liked the line "I'd fist the ladies of the Bradys'"

That show never made it over here, I'm only vaguely familiar with it, so I'll comment like this instead: Four different authors, four different ways to rewrite the original (and if that "I miss the Karma of Obama" a fifth author told me he'd try working on had worked out we'd have five for five). I'll call that a pretty good start! :-)

this doesn't make a lot of sense and is far removed from the purity of the original series. Today-- they all be ho-- ing? WTF? My sister dressed that way-- and thanks for the Ebonics as well.

Anything that results in a John Jenkins appearance is a win in my book. Thanks everybody. I think ann's comment is the most insightful. To say that I struggled with this assignment would be an understatement -- the only reason I forced myself to finish and submit it was that I really wanted to support the idea (and I said I would, so I didn't want to be a liar). But whatever. Well done everybody; hopefully I'll be happier with my attempt next week. Oh, and whoever posted the last two comments: if you're a recognizable personality on the site, then you're a part of a community. If you're anonymous, you're just a troll.

An unworthy effort. An injustice to the original series. Disrespectful. Deserving of ones. 1-1-1
