The Lyrics

Well now here we are. Using a song that has never been parodied for a topic that is never been satirized due to the open-ended sensitivity. When I wrote up this parody I was trying to balance out the issue from both "life" and "choice" camps. To partially defend myself, Arcade Fire seem to use the mourning and death motifs a bit too much in their repertoire of songs. I get that there is the personal connection and actual tragedy around the band, but why do I have to feel sad listening to their songs. Soo much. Anyways, enjoy or shame the song which I extracted from the Reflektor album cut. Maybe it will get pulled, who knows.
Oooo, oooo , oooo, oooo, ooooo…

(Verse 1)
Stopping life, don’t you think, that sounds quite absurd
Stopping all the pain and remorse
And the light of your life
And is this just a crime
And where are police sirens at my door
And after paying those hospital bills
With emptiness in my gut
From a missing soul

(Chorus 1)
I am not whole
Do I have a choice?
Where is my voice, if I don’t have choice
Can we, all have a choice?
Have a voice, for all girls and boys
For all girls and boys, for all girls and boys
For all girls and boys, for all girls and boys

(Verse 2)
Stopping life, not this time with no regrets
Committed to parenthood
When even with light money
Or dad who’s flaky
For this baby
But this is not a crime
If adoption is, the way to go
I will know the joy from you in time
With no cries both night to day
From a missing soul

(Chorus 2)
I am not whole
Since I saved a life
Became bad wife, ‘Cause I saved a life
Did I just save a life?
All the guilt is rife, ‘Cause I saved a life

(Verse 3)
Can I hear
Wahhhhh, when it’s afar
And I let go
Can you hear
Wahhhhh, when it’s afar
And I let go
Should I have let go
And we let go
And we let go
And we let go
And we let go
And we let go
And we let go
And we let go

And Roe v. Wade
Ready for another fight?
Making women’s problems worse
With more reasons to, protest on streets
I am not whole

(Chorus 3)
Do I have a choice?
Where is my voice, if I don’t have choice
Since I, just saved a life
Became bad wife, ‘Cause I saved a life+
Can I hear
Wahhhhh, when it’s afar
And I let go
Can you hear
Wahhhhh, when it’s afar
And I let go
Wahhhhh, when it’s afar
And I let go
Wahhhhh, when it’s afar
And I let go
Should I have let go

Oooo, oooo, oooo, ooooo, ooooo,….

(Outro)
Do we have choice or life?
It’s only choice or life, for you
It’s only choice or life
It’s only choice or life, for you
It’s only choice or life
+ = I know that these two lines would usually repeat but I wanted to combine from the previous verses, as a full circle idea. Don't bother pointing that out. Btw, if you think I offended you reading and singing along, you can use the excuse "He's a man. He doesn't know about women's reproductive issues." All I have is the research, not the experience, and maybe a longer song is needed. Sorry for my gender preference.

I'm not trying to get any points for funny here.

Nicely done. It is a question that has no truly definitive answer. (i don't know the song well enough to judge on a technical standpoint, but I am guessing you took time and care).

Thanks Ag. Btw, how far along are you on Breaking Bad? The third season I am going through for my album parody is coming along smoothly. Track 5 is mostly done and It is really keeping me from Track 6, since I have the outro set.

Sorry, I have only watched the pilot episode (even though I wrote an entire verse about it in my http://www.amiright.com/parody/90s/boingo0.shtml )! :)

I've done four or five parodies that were designed to elicit reactions other than laughter; that were basically lamentations. It can be done to great effect. In that case, the "Funny" category should be re-interpreted as "emotional impact of the lyrics"

@Callmelennie, That is an interesting suggestion. Btw, can't wait for my anti-vaxxer song to be posted and the reactions that follow.

Hey anybody still caring about this song, do you think this would have worked as part of the movie soundtrack to "Unplanned"? Just wondering if it's worth going to see.
