The Lyrics

Today (6th Oct '04) the Leftist representantive, well-known Feminist, Gudrum Schyman, suggested "male tax" in Swedish parliament. This tax is to be paid by every Swedish man (ony men, not women) to compensate the damage men cause to women on domestic violence. "It must be self-evidently clear towards everyone that the men's violence on women is a big problem and it causes economic losses. We need to have a discussion here, where the men have to understand that they must bear the collective responsibility as a group.", said Schyman. Congratulations, Swedes. You are now on the same level of ridiculousness as we Finns. This is something well compareable to the moral upset of Donald Duck not wearing pants years ago.
Is it crime to be a male in Sweden?
The women walk them over every way
Schyman came up with idea
which is hard to understand
she has suggested tax
which is to punish every man
Is just posessing pee-pee
really reason for such rant?
Is the male
the garbage pail
in Sweden?

Violence ain't nice, but why is it
Fem'nazis do show such inanity?
Thet threat the men like doormats
like they had no human right
equality's just empty word
as Lefties show their might
All concepts of the Western justice
have gone out of the sight -
for the male
the stuff for jail
who'll be next
wearing the veil
in Sweden
In my opinion the concept of collective punishment does not belong in the Western concept of justice.

My gods, the Swedes came up with THAT weirdness? Just goes to show you that no country is without its flawed politics and crackpots...*sigh* Fives all round for the song though!

DKTOS, but I like the words! What a crazy law...

That is the kind of thing that gives feminists a bad name... hold on a sec, let's take this hypothetically: I'm a man (obviously!) who has to pay this tax ... if I'm already paying to beat my wife, then I might just as well get my money's worth

Please tell me this is a maverick bill which has no chance of becoming law..
Susanna Viljanen - October 07, 2004 - Report this comment
No, this bill has no chances of passing. Gudrun Schyman is a known man-hater, she has her ideology, and she is scorned even amongst the Vänstrepartiet (Leftist party) - she was forced to resign on the chairperson's place as she was found guilty on a fraud. She is somewhat comparable to Andrea Dworkin, Germaine Greer or other extremists, who well deserve the name "feminazi" - she has compared the woman's lot of Sweden to be the same as that in Talibani Afghanistan. For me, Feminism means equality and not female supremacy - that is Feminazism. While I am blonde, my skin is white and I have blue eyes, I likewise scorn any racial supremacy groups. The bill actually, as you said, would only be harmful to women for the reasons you described.

Phew! (btw I think Germaine Greer might take exception - she's not *that* bad!)

DKTOS from the top of my head (and Johnny, you're on to me) but/and Susannas explanation. Gudrun is the former communist-party leader still in parliament after the court decided that the blame for that tax-freud was to be put on her accountant or something like that. The ruling party has been dependent on her partys votes in parliament for so long that they probably had enougt dirt on enought pps to squeese a few balls to get her out of that. Noone believed it of course and as a third time recidiving alcoholic (yes, in public) they had to kick her from the formal post. Now desperate to stay in the public light she's out to form some sort of feminist party and that's okay by me, they would probably mainly take votes from the communists and then both parties would fall out of parliament at next election. :-)

As for the stupid proposition if self it was pretty much shut down immediately by pps pointing out that except for herself and her group of manhating extreme feminists, most women are actually married or (since this is Sweden) at least living with a man, having a family etc and a joined economy with a man, so if the man is taxed more it would effect the whole family including the woman/women

Ooops! Guess they didn't thought of that in the ecstasy of coming up with a new idea that would give them another 15 minutes of fame.... ehhh, shame! :-(
