The Lyrics

This song is about a guy whose mom didn't tell him that monsters don't exist.
I never knew
I never knew that monsters hang out in your room
They stay inside your closet just to give you doom
Now I’m 35, and I still don’t know the truth
They are really scary
I guess my mom never just came up and told me
I'd rather run the other way than stay and see
What lurks under my bed because I’m afraid

Everyone knows what lives
Under my bed
Under my bed
There’s monsters and ghosts there all the time
And it’s bedtime
And it’s bedtime

Don’t call me strange
I wish my mom had told me so that I can change
Because all of this fear is making me deranged
Please tell me now cause I’ve been scared for way too long
I’m awake with fright
I wish my mom would ask if I’m alright
And then I’d tell her that I need my night light
Plug it in the wall cause there are monsters underneath

Everyone knows what lives
Under my bed
Under my bed
There’s monsters and ghosts there all the time
And it’s bedtime
And it’s bedtime

Everyone knows what lives
Under my bed
Under my bed
There’s monsters and ghosts there all the time
And it’s bedtime
And it’s bedtime

And I really just want to go back to the past
And my mom better come, and fast
I'm getting scared and I’m in distress
And there’s a sound, and then I look around
And that’s when I found
Then they come out at me and then they surround
And now I’m on the ground and surrounded by elves

And everyone knows what lives
Under my bed
Under my bed
There’s monsters and ghosts there all the time
And it’s bedtime
And it’s bedtime

Everyone knows
That it’s bedtime
Everyone knows what lives under my bed
They are under my bed
They are under…

And everyone knows what lives
Under my bed
Under my bed
There’s monsters and ghosts there all the time
And it’s bedtime
And it’s bedtime

Great for a classic Abbott tune! You've come a long way since then (no longer repeating choruses and all that). You me and T-Cop are all in early Halloween spirits! I dig it!

I have a theory on my his mom never told him, she wants to keep her control on him.

(Artistry) Oldie but still a goodie (disregarding the repeated choruses). The twist that it turns out he was right was pretty funny (and it's my headcanon that the fact that they're elves means his mother never told him that Santa wasn't real either). 555 monster traps!

(Artistry) yeah man, this one is solid. I can tell you've come a long way from here though, but this one holds up well. It's fun and surprisingly cute for a horror-inspired spoof.
