I think this might be a metaphor for Robert Francis' campaign. It's falling to pieces. Seeing him on that 3rd debate put him over the top on my radar. Also, I'm cancelling my Dem Funny Hindsights contest on in the 00s website. Too much time has passed and I'm not seeing any parodies about Gillibrand, Gravel, or Molton.
