The Lyrics

This is a work of fiction.
Here's how I went vegan
Long ago, long ago
Went to Caputo's
Store you know, store you know
I saw the sirloin steaks
They looked fine, in the line
They sang a song, no mistake
In my mind, in my mind

You came to cook us
Please let go, please let go
You'll shake 'n bake us
Let us go, let us go
This is a death threat
Time to go, time to go
Will you just skip it?
Please just go, please just go

I ran towards the pork
With my cart--what a start!
"I'm tired and there's just lots
On my mind, on my mind
Must be a prank in this place
Never mind, never mind"
But then the pork joined the steaks
Sang in time, sang in rhyme

You want to cook us
Please let go, please let go
PETA please save us!
Charcoal glow, charcoal glow
This is a death threat
Dont' you know, dont' you know?
Please have no regret
Let us go, let us go

I started crying
In the aisle, like a child
I felt compassion
For the cows and pigs on land
I ate a lot of thick steaks
I ate a lot of thick steaks
I ate a lot of thick steaks
I ate a lot of thick steaks

You want to cook us
Please let go, please let go
PETA come save us!
Don't you know, don't you know
This is a death threat
Let us go, let us go
Will you just stop it?
Time to go, time to go

You want to roast us
Please let go, please let go
You'll shake 'n bake us
Dear God no, dear God no!
This is a death threat
(I ate a lot of thick steaks)
Let us go, let us go
(I ate a lot of thick steaks)
You have to stop it
(I ate a lot of thick steaks)
Time to go, time to go
(I ate a lot of thick steaks)

Moooooooooooooooo....
Moooooooooooooooo...

Thanks guys, didn't expect 5's, let alone anyone here knowing this song!

Well, I DKTOS but, I trust your pacing and I liked the parody so, 555

Actually, now I have found a free mp3: www.pitchforkmedia.com/tracks/05-05-06.shtml. (click on the download link). If you DKTOS, this will be beneficial.
Larry Hensley - February 09, 2006 - Report this comment
DKTOS, but will listen to the mp3. This was really wacky, so 555's

What a shame this is a work of fiction. We Turtles love seaweed and algae!

DKTOS, but it was funny enough to reward fours. The line, "I ate a lot of thick stakes" had me howling whenever it was repeated! LOLOLOL! Keep them coming. Unfortunately, this isn't my choice for SOTM, but great job, though.

(SOTM 06) Looked good, where were the chickns? lol They had nothing to say? 5's
Agrimorfee - March 09, 2006 - Report this comment
Chris & Adagio , you DID check the FREE mp3, didn't you? ;)
Chris Bodily TM - March 09, 2006 - Report this comment
Yes, Agrimorfee, I used the mp3 to synch the song, but that still doesn't mean I'm really familiar with the song. Maybe you can do a vegan parody of a better known song in the future. Good luck to you in the SOTM contest.

Yea...I had given you 5's Agri. Missing a vote?

(SOTM) Nice work on the pacing there Agri-I used the lyrics link-and I especially liked "I ate a lot of thick steaks," but in all honesty, who's talking? A person or a cow? And are there cannibals about? I am completely confused.
Max Power - March 09, 2006 - Report this comment
SOTM-Nice
Matthias - March 09, 2006 - Report this comment
Too much time smoking meat aren't you Agrimor...

(SOTM) Reminds me of an old Carol Burnet routine where a diner would order something and you would hear the animal screaming from the kitchen (one order was for frog legs and you heard "ribbit. my legs, not my legs!"). Well done.
Agrimorfee - March 10, 2006 - Report this comment
Adagio, saying it "looked good" made me think that you didn't listen to the mp3. Thanks for your comments. :)

(SOTM) That would not drive Hannibal Lector to veganism, but maybe to desert...
Red Ant - March 12, 2006 - Report this comment
(SOTM) To Cat: hearing the MP3 will clear up your confusion. Agrimorfee: great concept of having the food sing the choruses and congrats on the first submission of this artist. 555.

(SOTM) I empathise completely, Agri - if there was a restaurant with me on the menu, I'm pretty sure I'd react in a similar way, particularly if faced with the prospect of being shaked'n'baked - 555
Confission - March 16, 2006 - Report this comment
(SOTM) i was tenderizing some steak once and it started singing "hit me baby one more time". that's when i went vegan.

i admit, though, that sometimes i do get cravings

not for the meat, but for the music. the idea of having my food sing to me while i cook it (something vegetables won't even consider) is a bit tempting. mmmmm, chicken, pork, and fish stir-fry accompanied by a meat choir resembling the dixie chicks featuring kevin bacon and vince gill

anyway, good parody. it's nice to see that i'm not the only one who has witnessed singing meat. for a while i was starting to think i'm crazy

[SOTM] Well paced, and reasonably funny 544
bobpiecheese - March 23, 2006 - Report this comment
Brilliantly paced, just one nagging question: You only complained about eating meat. But a 'vegan' means one who doesn't eat food from an animal - this includes dairy products and eggs'. I think you meant 'VEGETARIAN', didn't you?
bobpiecheese - March 23, 2006 - Report this comment
(SOTM) Oops. that last comment was meant to be for the SOTM contest. My bad.
Phil Alexander - March 24, 2006 - Report this comment
That's quite a confession, confission... ;-)
I'm not sure I could go veggie: I like my meat too much... but a fun parody, nonetheless :-)
Agrimorfee - March 27, 2006 - Report this comment
bobpiecheese: To answer your question, I don't understand what there is in the song to make you concerned about whether the singer is vegan or vegetarian.

(SOTM) Meat that talks back....every carnivore's nightmare! Brilliant work on an OS I was unfamiliar with, but enjoyed hearing. 555
