The Lyrics

This song's for those of you who love or hate or love to hate director's cut version DVDs with bonus materials, script writers/actors commentary and/or behind the scenes bloopers.

A YouTube version of the original song can currently be found here:

Saved, are spoils and spills, and acts on pills, for DVD
It reeks, should be condemned, films when extend-ed with some extra scenes
We pay for shots they've blown, that make us frown, buy one, get two
No lie, part of the act, know it's a sting, a cash back premiere
If you pay it's cash for yak

Cuts, and cellulitic buts, and bonus value smut
And more, all goes straight to the DVD
Check, a ton of CGI, some wizzkid misapplied
And blew himself, all on a Christmas tree

If the script's been penned, to surf a trend, stay far away
To whom will it apply, I'll hue and cry, for love scene metal songs
If actors showing bone, when on the throne's, your guilty pleasure
Come see good taste implode, it's been foreboded, by the budgeteer
And a soundtrack full of quacks

Rats, and broken beat-up bats, and wham-bam girls too fat
And more, that goes straight to a DVD
Twists, like trannies that were kissed, when filming in the mist
And brace yourself, this is part one of three
What? A heroine not hot? A messed up money shot?
The whole thing's hosed straight to a DVD
Spin, a Baldwin's next of kin, a once was now has been
A lifted face, almost a guarantee

And in slow-mo, tanned babe skin
More in slow-mo, bouncing twins

Shit, that no-one will admit, producers saw and quit
And then the rest was shot in Coventry
Clips, of actors that were high, somewhere up in the sky
You'll get their crappin' yap on the comment'ry
Lots, of extras going nuts, and trainees with the trots
And more, all goes straight to the DVD
Clips, of deeds with apple pies, of when directors cry
And wet themselves, all's on the DVD

Peter - I'm at least glad that you submitted the Author's Cut of this parody! Nice work. ;D

Personally as a movie lover, I enjoy bonus features. But I also enjoyed this parody. Good work

SOTM: Not a huge fan of the OS, but I thought this was a really good idea that was done really well!

Very different. . .I can't say I've ever heard of Seether, but they have kind of a Korn meets Green Day feel, I liked it a lot--thanks for introducing me to them

Dave: Give them your ears for a full album or two and you'll also hear some grunge vibes like those from Alice in Chains and especially Nirvana. I've read somewhere that singer/bandleader Shaun Morgan's biggest influence is Kurt Cobain, no surprise, that can somehow be heard in his voice too. This was the song that introduced me to them, I had the radio on in the background and they played it and I first thought to myself "hey, I don't know this Nirvana song, must be a lost recording pimped up and released again..." :-)

Blaydeman: See my intro. This parody is for all sides, those who love and those who hate bonus features and everyone in between. Following the tone and vibe of the original I had to put focus on negative aspects though (and funny-wise that always give more room for puns, though the funniest part for me during writing this one was the double and sometimes tripple internal rhymes in some lines).

Speaking of the DVD, that's where the director threw Peggy in (The Mask).

Interesting song, not easy to put your words into the original. I liked the idea behind it, and hope this song wasn't released straight to DVD. And DAve, Seether also did a Careless Whisper remake (their most mainstream song).

I've only heard of Seether's cover of "Careless Whisper" but this was as good one too and a great topic I've always thought that the Straight To DVD sequels were so terrible!

(SOTM) Hmm...I may be jumping to conclusions, but I have an inkling that you may have a bit of a problem with bonus content on DVD's. Wild assumption, I know. Personally, I don't really care what bonus crap gets put on, I only want the movie, maybe some out-takes, but mainly the movie! Nice parody here, the wording felt a bit off, but not enough to really hurt it (and certainly not enough to explain why it feels off). 555!

There is some level of self-important crap on DVDs sometimes. Target hit! OS was a good choice of ammo…. The rhymes are flyin’ fast and sharp there!
