The Lyrics

A rather tragic LOST parody addressing Ben Linus on the subject of his daughter Alex.
It hadn’t been an easy year.
The little girl who you held so dear
Had made it pretty clear she couldn’t stand ya.
Oh, teenage love’s a tricky thing.
You only sought to clip her wings
To fling away a threat to Alexandra.

Alexandra, Alexandra. Alexandra, Alexandra.

Defiantly, you had made her yours.
You snatched her from the out-of-doors
Though wars were fought and Widmore would’ve banned ya.
And yet it was your choice to spare
The child and leave her mother there,
Despairingly imploring, “Alexandra!”

Alexandra, Alexandra. Alexandra, Alexandra.

Steering her to the secret spot,
You sought some solace in the thought
She’d not be caught by those who would demand ya.
But Keamy brought her back home to you.
Now your mind games wouldn’t do,
And you knew that you had lost your Alexandra.

Alexandra, Alexandra. Alexandra, Alexandra.

The mercenary called your bluff.
You loved her, Ben, but not enough.
You gruffly said the isle would reprimand ya.
In the dead of night, your darkest dreams
Were littered with the tortured screams
Of Keamy’s lily victim, Alexandra.

Alexandra, Alexandra. Alexandra, Alexandra.

You were traumatized at first
And, haunted by your last outburst,
You cursed the man accustomed to command ya.
But the blameless blood that was freely spilt
Then forged in you a transforming guilt,
So you built a life to honor Alexandra.

Alexandra, Alexandra. Alexandra, Alexandra.
Alexandra, Alexandra. Alexandra, Alexandra.

What can I say, but what a humanizing portrait of Ben despite the fact he was at times less than human. Nice wordsmithing, and a lovely bittersweet look at the relationship between father and daughter.

Thanks, Warren! I confess I've always had a soft spot for Ben; I was so glad to see him make a turn toward the better as the series wrapped up!

Bil. - All-excellandra! That scene in Lost really tore me up. I hated Ben but his daughter had a lot going for her and that bastich mercenary called Ben's bluff and shot her. I thought Ben the ultimate coward when he let that happen to her.

Ben was smart and cunning. He could have given himself up and found a way to allude being killed. And what compounded the problem was that he vowed to kill Widmore's daughter who was of course Penny. I'm glad that he never got that chance. Another great Lost parody. You nailed it right down to the story line.

Thanks, Guy! I'm pretty sure "The Shape of Things to Come" stands as the most depressing episode ever for me. Poor kid, first her boyfriend and mom get killed, then the last thing she hears before she dies is that her dad doesn't care about her... I really hoped Ben would do something noble to try to protect his daughter. Trying to use psychology on a psychopath was a bad move. Then again, Ben always was pretty wimpy.

This is a depressing story between father and daughter, but although that Ben is not her real dad, it got me wondering what made Ben so mean to Alex. Well, I haven't watched much of 'Lost', but that's a bittersweet, but great parody you wrote. 555. And perfect OS for this topic.

Thanks, Christie! I think it was a really complicated relationship, especially toward the end since Ben locked her boyfriend up. He was afraid Alex would get pregnant and die in childbirth like everybody else, but that definitely didn't win any cool points from her. Maybe that's one reason he was so obsessed with solving the Island's fertility problems... I think he did want to protect her, but he wasn't willing to make a real sacrifice for her sake.
