A few weeks ago (7/19/2022), I posted a parody of “I Only Have Eyes for You” called “I Only See Eyes That’re Blue”. Considering how familiar you probably are with my parodies by now, that parody was undoubtedly about the 1951 “Beat the Clock” show that featured 300 Boy Scouts. I mentioned that it was the final version after a few revisions. Well, here is the original version, which I wrote in December 2020, two months after discovering this historic television broadcast on Saturday, October 10, 2020. At the time, I was still surprised that such a broadcast actually happened, and I looked into it for months. So, if you want to know why I’m so fixated on this broadcast — there you go. This is sung from the view of a man who has become a regular viewer of “Beat the Clock” and becomes fixated with “Roxanne”, the game show’s blonde assistant. It takes place in — of course — 1951.
