Parody Song Title:

"Meathead"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Archie Bunker, Archie Bunker
Edith and Gloria first
Edith and Gloria first
Edith and Gloria
We laughed until our heads fell off
It was well-rehearsed
Was well-rehearsed
Was well-rehearsed...

Archie Bunker, Archie Bunker
I've seen a lot
I haven't seen them all
You haven't seen them all?
You'll laugh until he buys the bar
Edith and Gloria first
And Meathead's cursed
And Meathead's cursed...

Gee, our Lasalle ran great all of the time
Gee, our Lasalle ran great all of the time

Meathead's coming, Meathead's coming
Gonna hear both sides
Hear the left and right
Gonna hear both sides
Gonna hear both sides...

Meathead's shouting, Archie's yelling
Gloria's a whiner
Gloria's a whiner
Gloria's a whiner...

Hear the toilet flushing
This is not "What's Happening?" happening
Hear the toilet flushing
This is not "What's Happening?" happening

Archie's smirking
Archie's burping
Now George Jefferson
It's George Jefferson
It's George Jefferson...

Reruns alive, TVLand all of the time
Reruns alive, TVLand all of the time
(Noman Lear's first sitcom)

A good parody of a mediocre Radiohead song....

ISTM that there's a story behind this one.. (IOW I can't make out exactly what it's going on about). But it's better than the original, either way ;-)

Last week I was on holidaying at a gain. Now I am at a loss. I have some clue that this is a cartoon character or army tv show or something and DKTOS so really can't give you any worthy feedback. Or feedforward for that matter.

Not bad...not many words to work with, so there's not as much substance as some of the other songs.

(ABC) Well that OS made me want to take a valium, but the parody's not bad..

(AGES) I had never heard of Idotheque before this parody, and good God I hope I never hear it again. . .I'd listen to SexyBack by Justin Timberlake a hundred times before hearing that song again. . .whew. . .that aside. . .the parody lyrics are great, although I hope you never perform it because the annoying vocal range of the OS would drive me nuts. I think the lyrics to the OS were terrible, which means coming out with a decent parody wasn't easy, so for what it is worth. . .good job. I liked Archie Bunker as a kid, didn't really continue into adulthood as South Park kinda replaced my animation fix, of course I thought Archie was a comic character only--didn't realize he was on TV. . .wait, this "Comment" is becoming a full length novel, and I need to stop or my comment may exceed the length of the song.

good considering what you had to work with

(AGES) I never really was into Archie Bunker, and couldn't really get into TOS. Sorry, Aggy, this just didn't really do anything for me. FWIW, you did as much as you could with what you had.
Michael McVey - February 08, 2007 - Report this comment
Archie and Meathead are always good parody material imo. Personally I would have picked a different song, but like Red Ant said you did as well as could be expected with the one you chose.------MM

(AGES) Haven't seen the show, can't comprehend the OS, but it was just so plain WEIRD that I just loved it.

Everybody--Thanks for your comments. Maybe I should do a parody of "National Anthem" next time? :)

(Ages) A good match for the OS...it really does sound like "Archie Bunker!" Good job.

I'm sorry, but this didn't really seem worth doing to me, and I'm only commenting because competition rules require it. We probably would've both been better off writing something new for this round if time allowed for it.
