The Christmas Booze

It was almost 10 ‘till 4
As I walked toward the liquor store
Planing to buy a nice fifth or two
Not really in a social mood
Standing right there by a tree
Was a little boy looking haughtily
Smoking a butt like little boys do
And in his hand he held
A list of booze

His clothes were gang and street
He was tatted from head to feet
And when he came into my space
I couldn't back down…we were face to face


Man, I wanna buy some booze for my Momma, please
There’s none at home and this booze will make her right
Could you hurry, dude
Daddy’s passed out on the floor
You see he’s been drunk for quite a while
And I know this booze will make her smile
And I want her to be feeling tight
When Momma’s out working tonight

He showed me twenties and tugged on my sleeve
Then slowly I said, "Son, tonight’s Christmas Eve"
He looked at me and he touched his hair
Then he said “I don’t really care”
And he said “Momma makes Christmas a working day
Whisky takes the taste away
Tell me Man
Can’t you just help me out,
Somehow I've got to buy her some Christmas booze”

So I paused and scratched my neck
Then I said “Oh, what the heck”
I'll never forget the gleam in his eye when he said
“Momma's gonna earn so much”

I felt that I had done a noble deed
As his smile formed from a pout
He handed me a card with his Momma’s cell
Because pimping is what Christmas is all about
