The Lyrics

Dude, this assign-
Ment is hurting my nose
It's uberly tough
So it stinks, like my toes
I'd do this thing well
Casting spells mythically
But I don't
Have wands of wizardry

Now my noggin asplode
From guessing this code
Like cinder I'm blocked
My pay could get docked
Not long, just four lines
Should crack in no time
It's driving me nuts
So mysterious
This is worse than the plagues of Pharoah
Which one? Don't ask since I don't know-oh
My cotton-based clothes
Are soaked from the flow
Of stress induced-sweat
I've solved nothing yet

I'd think with pride
I'm a prince
Or a knight
And brains equal might
So I'd win any fight
Whether dragon or sprite
I would take sword and smite
But this shows
That I am peasant-like

So a rock I now hold
I'm tempted to throw
My Windows just froze
I'm thinking "Oh noes"
It's prom night part two
I haven't a clue
The file's corrupt
At least it's backed up
This is more insidious than Balrogs
It's gibberish like the speech of bullfrogs
It's ugly like toads
Unworthy of odes
Like Kindergarten
All's unglued again

Got it, how'd I not see
It's just basic slang rhyming Cockney
I got it, and it got me
Wiping teary eyes

Tears in my eyes
Are the tears of oh noes

Cause there's not enough dough
For me on payroll
With CC and Tex
They can't write me checks
The team is complete
So I'm obsolete
I won't be paid off
Just simply laid off
But, this dismissal will not break me
I'm, sure the Patriots will take me
My noggin asplode
From guessing that code
But it's better now
Please don't ask me how

Great Parody! [Like cinder, I'm blocked] xD

[SOTM] See above, but I'd also like to add that I'm giving major ups to you for choosing the Katy Perry song to parody instead of I Kissed A Girl, which would have been so obvious.
Matthias - February 09, 2009 - Report this comment
Pretty random, and surreal. Either that or I don't know where you're going with this. It was okay, but it was just weird to me.
Ethan - February 09, 2009 - Report this comment
Nope, not random.

Then do you mind explaining?
Ethan - February 09, 2009 - Report this comment
Like with my other parodies that were apparently too intelligent/literary for their own good, a couple of quick google searches could explain a lot.
Matthias - February 11, 2009 - Report this comment
But who wants to do research to understand your parody?

This didn't seem totally random but it did go over my head a bit. It seems more clever than funny, but there were parts where I did laugh (who doesn't laugh at "oh noes"?). But the pacing was absolutely perfect and there were some great rhymes throughout as well. Very impressive overall.

Some quick definitions: title = homestarruner reference. title character = nerdy professional codebreaker. CC & tex = CC Sabathia & Mark Teixiera, who are getting tons of money to play for the Yankees. princes & knights = powerful & awesome. Peasants = not powerful or awesome.

(SOTM) Sorry I can't get to Youtube to hear the tune. I didn't get all the geeky refs, but I kind of followed the story...worth a second reading, and that counts for a lot. I liked this, Ethan.

Indeed

SOTM...I'm pretty sure I "got" it in the end...even though I didn't know who CC & Tex were. (But...having said that...I was still confused sometimes.) Pacing was great, and as it's been said before, thanks for choosing a KP song that I can stand. =)

(SOTM) A little bit confusing to wrap my head around, though the pacing is damn near perfect (this is from memory cuz I HATE the OS from repetition that I couldn't bare to hear it again).

(SOTM) Same can be said in my opinion on I think I got it. . .I have to admit the first paragraph for some reason through me off, it paced, but it seemed hard to stress correctly---overall I liked it.

There are enough solid couplets in this for me to be a fan anyway, plus the song deserved it. Especially liked
"My Windows just froze/ I'm thinking "Oh noes"",
"Toads/Unworthy of odes",
and "paid off/laid off"
