| Parody Song Title: | "I Predict A Riot ('cause of some cartoons)" |
| Parody Written by: | Phil Alexander |
Watching the Muslims on telly
From Istanbul nearly to Delhi
Their protests are really quite scary
And not very sensible either
Do they think that Allah won't save ya
From cartoons from Scandinavia
Would never have happened in Eton
They're not very sensible
Ah..la la la la la
I predict a riot
I predict a riot
I predict a riot
I predict a riot
They run around like a looney
It looks a little cartoon-y
I'd even call it insane-ish
They cannot go out for a Danish
The over-reaction they've taken:
No Muslim would buy Danish bacon
And it's their own people who're dying
They're not very sensible
Al..la la la la lah-u akhbar
I predict a riot
I predict a riot
I predict a riot
I predict a riot
So what's going to happen tonight?
It isn't too hard to guess right
The 'toons that they printed weren't funny
And didn't make them any money
Not aping or making a pro-phet
It's not very sensible
Ah..la la la la la
I predict a riot
I predict a riot
I predict a riot
I predict a riot
So what's going to happen tonight?
My forecast with perfect hindsight:
I predict a riot
I predict a riot
I predict a riot
I predict a riot
From Istanbul nearly to Delhi
Their protests are really quite scary
And not very sensible either
Do they think that Allah won't save ya
From cartoons from Scandinavia
Would never have happened in Eton
They're not very sensible
Ah..la la la la la
I predict a riot
I predict a riot
I predict a riot
I predict a riot

It looks a little cartoon-y

love the "insane-ish/danish" rhyme...5s
Good one.. Hope this doesn't prompt more riots though!! 5s
A lot of excellent lines, particularly the "pro-phet" and the "save ya/Scandavia" lines.
Very well written parody, 555's
1. On the positive side: I heard that some pastry shops in Syria (or somewhere down there) had renamed Danishes to Allah's Roses (or something like that). Apparently they got the idea from the French Fries to Freedom Fries thingy in the US a couple of years ago, so even if they don't understand the humour of it yet the humourus thinking in itself is getting at least a small hold in the Middle East generall type of thinking. Freedom of information does work, it just works a bit slow.
2. On the negative side: We have a debate here in Sweden now where the conservative party leader "feels violated" over some cartoons depicting him as a werewolf. (Cartoons of living politicians, where did that come from?). It's an extremely disturbing but subtle way of flirting with the muslim "populace" that possibly is strong enough to tip the scale in this years election to come.
3: A general thought while I'm on a roll. Would it count as an religious offence if a webbpage linking to various rotating archives suddenly by pure chance showed a cartoon of an anonymous muslim, and the name Mohammad somewhere near the cartoon? Or how about this for a webbpage that could get thousands of hits: a page where the visitor would have to push a button to get a random combination of cartoon figures and names. Let's say 1 out of a 1000 cartoon figures is a muslim, and 1 out of 1000 names is Mohammad, that would make the chance of the offensive combination 1 in 1 000 000, sort of a lottery for those who know how to use the print screen funtion! :-)

"Allah's Roses"???
Howsabout this as a sacreligious marketing opportunity, then: a place you can drink and smite the god himself while you do so... you could call it an "Allah-you-whack Bar"

I doublechecked and it was Iran and "Roses of the Prophet Mohammed". Check for yourself at www.metimes.com/articles/normal.php?StoryID=20060220-100400-6135r (scroll down to "Iran bans Danish pastries by name", hopefully it's still there).
Apparently devouring Mohammad is more acceptable than depicting him, let's hope the sugar coating never accidentally falls into the pattern of a bearded man! =8-()
