The Lyrics

A struggling, young, amateur DJ finally gets a shot at doing a radio show on weekends, but is having trouble getting listeners and he doesn't know why.
Intro: Check 1, check 2, check 3, check 4
Huh, you’re now tuned in to WUTP radio
I’m your host for the night Newboy Trey
You’re now locked into the amateur hour
I know all y’all cool people aren’t tuned in right now, so
I’m gonna send this new one out
So you will really call this radio
Talk to me damn it!

Verse 1: Y’all need to turn up your volume
And blast my cool tunes
Cruz nobody does know me
They’re watching weekend cartoons
And it’s time to take callers
But it’s hush like communes
I’m gonna get the hook if I don’t up my rates soon
[Cough] Ex-cuse me
Dust’s chokin’ me (woo!)
I need a booth that’s clean!
Wanted this since infancy, since I was in PJ’s
Especially cuz them chicks shakin’ their ass at the DJ’s
People go listen in, singing what I play
And you hearin’ me start talkin’ all my views that I convey
Yes please, it’s 1.123
You’re all wonderful people if you tune to me

Chorus: You can hear me play that, say that, play back
On weekends it’s my radio
Let me hear you call in, write in, skype in!
You can hear me on the radio
You can hear me play that, say that, play back
On weekends it’s my radio
Let me hear you call in, write in, skype in!
Will you listen to my radio!
(Radio-o…)

Verse 2: It’s like you don’t even have a Sam-sung
Is anybody tunin’ in, they can be old or young
That’s a caller! My mistake, thought the phone had rung
I won’t quit playin’ these songs! It is too much damn fun!
I ain’t negative nah, I’m just a positive ham
But I still keep the the Pearl Jam tracks in my hand
See I’m spinning all of the greatest hits like Eminem’s “Stan”
And y’all wishin’ and a hopin’ for The Dave Matthews Band
I’m really feeling the love now, it feels so nice
A hard worker like myself sure deserves a slice
Just please comply, torn on that radio please
Cuz I will cry, and I’ll pleed and I’ll beg on my knees

Chorus: You can hear me play that, say that, play back
On weekends it’s my radio
Let me hear you call in, write in, skype in!
You can hear me on the radio
You can hear me play that, say that, play back
On weekends it’s my radio
Let me hear you call in, write in, skype in!
Will you listen to my radio!
(Radio-o…)

Verse 3: I’m not judgin’ by calls, that’s all statistics
Just turn my show on or I’ll go ballistic
This is the right show if you enjoy The Mystics
And there’s Tupac up in here, if you get explicit
My boss put me on here just for a short time
Man, I hope he don’t be trippin’ ‘bout the dead call lines
So I am worried about my viewership
And he won’t mind to be writing up one small pink slip
I ain’t lying someone, will you call in fast?!
Up in this booth all night my boss will cut my ass!
Wait, why’s this chord hangin’? [plugs it in]
It seems that my phones ringin’!
Now I know you call my show ev’ry night I’m on!
You hear what I’m sayin’!

(Radio-o…)

Chorus: You can hear me…
(Spin, spin, spin, play it again)
On weekends it’s my radio!
Let me hear you call in, write in, skype in!
You can hear me on the radio!
You can hear me…
(Spin, spin, spin, play it again)
On weekends it’s my radio
Let me hear you call in, write in, skype in!
Will you listen to my radio!
(Radio-o)

Fun parody! This reminds me of a local station I used to listen to where the DJ would let the record run out and there'd be about twenty minutes of dead air before he'd come back.

I have a friend who used to be a DJ in Vegas and this song reminds me of her so that's cool because she's a hottie, lol

Was a time when my dream career was to be a radio dj. I had some good experiences (and bad) in my professional stints in the field, a time that has come and gone. Your parody takes me back to some of that dream. Nitpick here: a radio dj would desire more "listenership", not viewership.

Never heard the OS before, but my dream job for awhile was a radio DJ...but don't think it's gonna happen. Nice sub with the title, and the pacing was well done as well. Nice work!

(ABC) Huh, and hear I thought all the people talking between the songs on the radio were raging jerkholes who wouldn't shut up and play the music. Weird. Anyway, great parody here, 555!
