The Lyrics

I just realized time was running out if I wanted to get in on the "Christmas in July" parody theme. Someone else is running out of time, too. So here goes. Just in case it matters to anyone: where I come from "wrangling", "chuckling" etc, are pronounced with three syllables.
Hear the Congress wrangling
They'll pay our debts with further borrowing
Looms the day of reckoning
Early August morning

Round the world the markets waiting
Phony "ceiling" still debating
Crash the nation's credit rating
Early August morning
Early August morning

Washington's a circus ring
Full of clowns, but no one is chuckling
We'll pay for their bungling
Come that August morning

All around the deadline dancing
Economic meltdown chancing
Calender draws nervous glancing
Almost August morning
Almost August morning

Democ-rats, Republi-cans
Balanced budget, hasn't the slightest chance
All take same unyielding stance
Here comes August morning

Every day disaster pending
Bogus cuts to bloated spending
Brink of crisis never-ending
Every single morning
Every single morning

Here is what the people think:
"Damn it! Stop all this childish posturing!"
Congress has some openings
Next November morning

All along, the public stringing
Like confetti, trillions flinging
Growing debt inflation bringing
Early August morning
Early August morning
Early August morning

Are these folks really talking about a "debt ceiling" as in "credit limit", or is this a matter of "continued spending authority"? Just because Visa won't raise my limit doesn't mean I don't pay my bills. When Washington uses a particular term repeatedly, you can be certain it actually means something entirely different.
