The Lyrics

My 2nd song of Simpsons in my on-going 10 song project...
Springfield grade school’s my world
Aced each test, A gigantic nerd
And I can rock on the saxophone
My looks make Milhouse moan

I won’t eat meat that’s sliced
Instead I’ll chow on broccoli pie
Have more smarts than Professor Frink
I am very well-read, Bookworm it seems

One problem I have is thee…
My brother Bart just picks on me
I should also mention my stupid dad
If it wasn’t for them, I’d be a grad

But in my house my bro’s neck is wringing
After he got caught toilet paper slinging
If you need me I’ll be in the field
From a bush Milhouse is revealed
I know this boy is so freaking lame
Keeps stalking me that creeper
And he knows that I prefer
Somebody who won’t make me hurl

Parents hate it that I’m Buddhist
And a Junior Feminist
But while dad searches the couch for crumbs
I have saved a species from extinction

I’m praying that Yale’s my fate
I’m going to study till my eyes dilate
Bart has put my arm into a sling
Now I really want to move to Beijing

My entire family is annoying
Always something new dad’s destroying
Grandpa Abe is so darn wrinkled
Inside of the living room he has tinkled
Maggie’s the one who has a brain
If she could talk then she’d complain
They have got minds like mud
You know, It’s enough to make hair curl

D’Oooooooooooh-D’Oh!!!
D’Oooooooooooh-D’Oh!!!
D’Oooooooooooh-D’Oh!!!

[Repeated in Background]

My mom’s trapped in the kitchen baking
12 cans of hairspray she uses daily
Bart keeps making me have to squeal
By mocking me when I save the seals
My life here’s going down the drain
Must graduate or I’ll go insane
My dad’s drunk and slurs
“You’re my favorite spiky girl!”

Funny ode to a funny girl. She makes me think of Drew Barrymore in E.T..

Nice job Matty. I was grabbed by the the "saxophone/Milhouse moan" bit and that kept me reading.
If I was a yellow, talented, spikey haired little girl, I'd want to be Lisa.

Lisa Simpson has always been my favorite Simpson character. My dad and I are big Lisa fans, actually. I love it that she's smart and responsible. She definitely takes after her mom. Great song, Matt! You get 5 straight A's, 5 saxophones, and 5 horses. ( Items of Lisa's specialties.)

Great song with good pacing. You really have the Simpsons' life down pat.

(ABC) I enjoyed this at first read Matty...however at competition level this is wanting some better rhymes and grammar. "Is thee" is weird because the next line doesn't direct the previous to anyone, and necks don't wring--they get wrung. 554

ABC5(L) Love the Simpsons, and you did a great job of capturing the humor from Lisa's vantage point!!!...Especially liked the lines with Abe tinkling!!!...555!!!

Matt - Dispite what Agri says about grammar and noun/verb agreement, I happen to like the kind of "guyspeak" that you employ here. I have nothing against Agri's pet peeve for proper grammar in a parody, but where does it say that a song has to be gramatically correct? I can cite lots of OS numbers that butcher the language and no one complains. The bad grammar adds character to some members of the Simson family's lack of intellect, especially Homer, I wish you well with your top 10 Simpson parodies. You should have no trouble because there are lots of characters and funny things to spoof about a cartoon that spoofs. D'oh, I forgot if the high vote is 1 or 5. But whatever it is I want you to have it along with my "forbidden donut".

For me grammar, Guy, is important because when recorded how a song comes off is important, I cringe personally when I try to sing something far off on grammar, and sure some OS's butcher grammar, however the classics generally do not, and even those that take grammar liberties still use the language in a way that doesn't sound forced or unnatural. This one I had trouble following a bit Matty, I didn't see major grammar issues, but it just didn't scan particularly well for me, I had trouble with stresses, I could not make it fit even though by syllables it should have. Only one minor rhyme mishab, but this one seems rushed to me. You know how I feel about grammar, I don't think this is terribly grammatically, but as Agri pointed out, some of the half rhymes which are acceptable in rap or hip hop parodies, don't work quite as well when you parody a moderate to slow paced OS that has very precise rhymes. Sorry buddy, I normally love your work you know that, this one isn't among my favorites by you though.

(ABC) would go very nicely to an alto sax accomaniment, Matty, especially as she's the saddest girl in the whole of Grade 2 - you got all the other characters in there too, so a very thorough job - 555

(ABC5) I'm not seeing the grammar problems Agri's going on about, but like Dave I'm having real problems fitting this to the OS. Some of the lines seem kinda out of character for Lisa, mainly the insulting of Homer (IIRC she only did that once when she called him a baboon). Okay as is, but some fine tuning would've really made this parody work.

I don't follow the Simpsons enough to get all of this, but pretty good write anyway, Matt.

Fun to read again, Matty. Now that you're 21 here are 555 cans of Duff's for you.

Funny stuff, I also likes the Saxophone/Millhouse Moan line. Well done.
