I can see the_conqueror_of_parodies (or bobpiecheese or whatever his name is this week) has been cleaning out the cookies AGAIN to give you a set of bogus 111 votes. As always I like your works so I'll try and counteract this by giving some 555 GENUINE votes. Note bobpiecheese (or_the_conqueror_of_parodies or whatever you name is), if you are reading this; you should be ashamed of yourself; cleaning out the cookies to mess around with people's ratings. By all means report this comment and get it deleted, but if you do so, it means you are coward because you can't face the truth.
cache-clearing doesn't seem to explain cases where there are way less page views than total votes (as in eel's "Guilty" parody). shouldn't we see at least an equal number of page views as the number of votes, one for each time the cache was cleared? the bogus voting seems to be an inside job.
again, there should be 1 page view added for each vote, unless page views count unique ip addresses only, but i don't think that is the case. is it? if i'm right, an internal program could be responsible for the voting mess.
The page view counter doesn't use cookies to check for unique visitors; the vote recording mechanism does. That's why you can be pretty sure that when the former is so far behind the latter, it's because it is the same person clearing cookies and re-voting. It's lucky they've not got their head around proper automation, or we'd be seeing votes in the millions
Phil, it's hard to believe that someone would take the time to clear their cache hundreds of times in some cases. maybe the culprit is using some sort of automated cache-clearing after all? you see no chance that an internal program is responsible?
I suspect someone has written an iMacros or similar script that clears cookies and re-votes, and the free version of the software is limited hence the multiples of 13, because that's the longest script the free thing lets you have. An internal program? Chucky ain't that sort of person, and ain't no Trump supporter :-)
a malevolent script is more believable. nice detective work by Phil. i see a 52 card deck of 1's at the moment, a multiple of 13. good to hear Chuckster isn't in the Conald cult.
