| Parody Written by: | Ryan Harder |
In honor of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
I was a kid from New York City,
Who made the dunk come alive.
While I was in the spotlight,
For being twice the other kid's size.
Well I went and played for UCLA in college,
And I went first overall to the Bucks.
Where I played six seasons,
Before I asked for a change.
And since the day I left Milwaukee,
To the west coast and Los Angeles,
Now known as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar,
Playing at the Forum in the Great West.
Playing with Worthy and Magic,
We all owned basketball.
The 70's & 80's was Showtime,
And of course they remember me,
Abdul-Jabbar
Abdul-Jabbar
I changed my name from Lew Alcindor,
When I embraced the Islamic faith,
And also I was best friends with Bruce Lee.
I've influenced seven footers,
I helped James Worthy play like he did.
And I'll bet that today's Lakers won't play
The same way that my teams did.
And since the day I retired from the NBA,
I've acted and wrote some books too,
I did some coaching young kids in Arizona,
And helpin' the Clippers climb to the top.
I am a six time MVP of the season and playoffs,
I have six championships too.
I had my jersey retired in two cities,
So no one there can wear 33 cause of me,
Abdul-Jabbar
Yeah I played for L.A. and Milwaukee,
Three championships with both teams each,
And remembering the shot known as the Skyhook,
Playing alongside Magic Johnson.
Yeah I spent fourteen years with the Lakers,
Playing basketball.
I made the NBA's 50th Anniversary team,
Because everyone knows me,
Abdul-Jabbar
Who made the dunk come alive.
While I was in the spotlight,
For being twice the other kid's size.
