The Lyrics

Written in 2004, when Johnny Damon was still with the Red Sox, this song is about the history of the Red Sox and how they finally beat the Yankees in 2004.
Damon just hit the ball
We never had it all
One crushing loss a year
86 straight times
Our dreams went out the door
When Bucky turned on one
Only been with one club
What happened to our run?
We were going to be the champions
We were going to win it all
We were going to shake our a****
Right on that stadium lawn
Our Billy Buckner
Is now the enemy
Look at our average team
Nothing, has been, alright, since

Nomar, Fisk, way before Yastrzemski
There was Williams and Pesky
And Ruth was not a Yankee
And those fans in the Bronx
They tell us that were cursed
'Cause they're still preoccupied with 19-19-1918

We've seen all our collapses
We know every play
Bucky Dent, Bill Buckner, and even Aaron Boone
We gave up on them
When they lost game three
Thought they'd need a hand
To get a win in game four
When are we going to blow this chance
And who's another guy that broke all our hearts
When is all of this pain gonna stop
Whatever happened to Clemens and Boggs
On the Red Sox

Nomar, Fisk, way before Yastrzemski
There was Williams and Pesky
And Ruth was not a Yankee
And those fans in the Bronx
They tell us that were cursed
'Cause they're still preoccupied with 19-19-1918

We love this
Don't make it stop
It's when the Evil Empire finally fell
And when Red Sox Nation could finally rejoice
Don't make this stop, stop, stop

Nomar, Fisk, way before Yastrzemski
There was Williams and Pesky
And Ruth was not a Yankee
And those fans in the Bronx
They tell us that were cursed
'Cause they're still preoccupied 1918

Nomar, Fisk, way before Yastrzemski
There was Williams and Pesky
And Ruth was not a Yankee
And those fans in the Bronx
They tell us that were cursed
'Cause they're still preoccupied with 19-19-1918

Obviously not written by me. You could've rhymed it better, and you could've dropped a few mentions of what life appears to have been like in the year in question, as in the original song. This doesn't stink, and it certainly isn't championship-worthy. it's just mediocre. Much like the 2006 Red Sox. Two years down, 84 to go!

Once all the Germans were warlike and mean,
But that couldn't happen again.
We taught them a lesson in nineteen-eighteen,
And they've hardly bothered us since then...
