The Lyrics

When writing this parody, I wanted to try to keep the last line of the chorus (and thus the title) a year number. I was going to make it "quizzing 2005" and celebrate the year I won the tournament. However, it didn't stick to topic well. But I realized the original song talks about a girl who use to be all that in the past, but in the present is nothing, so she stays in the past. I have seen many quizzers do great in the middle of their career, but finish it on a low key. Keeping with that theme, this parody expresses how a generic quizzer, who use to be high ranked fell low.
woohoohoo
woohoohoo

Quizzer just took a fall
He use to have it all
3 quiz outs a day
Always in the top fif-tay
His dreams went out the door
When he fell to sixty fourth
Finally hit the dust, man
What happened to his plan?
He was going to a win a tourney
He’s going to have a perfect score
He was going to wipe his opponents’ butts across the floor
Even now his own team
Can be the enemy
Looks at his average score
The bragging – the gloating – is no more!

He was the smartest, the team’s brawn
All others were just pawns
Now his rank has gone downstream,
He’s the weakest of the team
He looks like a dumb fool
Although he use to be cool
They all knew it wouldn’t last
So now he’s quizzing, quzzing in the past

woohoohoo
(Quizzing in the past)
woohoohoo

He’s read the whole quizbook
Highlighted every line:
Yellow, orange, blue and pink
His performance was on fire
He mocked erroring
And crazy answering
Got the upper hand
Always being the starting man
Why are the quizbooks, left a blank white?
What ever happened to practicing overnight?
When did quizzing become so easy?
What ever happened to “situation- who to whom
And on what occasion?”

He was the smartest, the team’s brawn
All others were just pawns
Now his rank has gone downstream,
He’s the weakest of the team
He looks like a dumb fool
Although he use to be cool
They all knew it wouldn’t last
So now he’s quizzing, quzzing in the past

woohoohoo

One last shot, to the top
He made up a strategy and a plot (and a plot)
And when the season finally came to an end,
He finished One…hundred…ten!

He was the smartest, the team’s brawn
All others were just pawns
Now his rank has gone downstream,
He’s the weakest of the team
He looks like a dumb fool
Although he use to be cool
They all knew it wouldn’t last
So now he’s quizzing in the past
(repeat)
