The Lyrics
This is a second helping of BCS-bashing for every American male out there. I read today in the Minneapolis Star Tribune that the majority of BCS conference commissioners are open to some sort of playoff system for the BCS in which bowls not integrated therein would remain intact. I hope that this proposal will be approved, thereby ending Division I-A college football's status as the only non-playoff sport in North America. (England's Champions League soccer is the only other sport in the whole world without a playoff system.) Anyway, I hope you enjoy the following parody of Avalon's "You Were There."
Stanza I.
I wonder why the BCS
Would ever kill the common sense that did remain
In the sport without a playoff all alone.
They all claimed it would work, but they were wrong!
Refrain I.
The BCS, BCS
Is a mess out of control,
Yet they won't do a thing to fix
This, our mess and our punishment that we're bearing now!
The BCS soon will go to hell,
It will go to hell!
Stanza II.
Back in 2003 we saw
How good USC fell victim to the flaws
Of this, the system that was once supposed to save
The game's own champion from the grave!
Refrain II.
The BCS, BCS
Soon was math out of control
Even for all the geeks out there,
Who had made up the formulas that they must destroy
Immediately or else face their hell;
They will face their hell!

So why, through all revisions, did we still hear complaints now
From Boise State and Hawaii and the teams innumerable?
