The Lyrics

I started working on this parody a few years back as I felt the delivery of Alex Turner was similar to that of the old British actor George Formby. Soon after I started on it the TV impressionist show "Dead Ringers" did their own version based on exactly the same idea. The version below is my work; any similarities to the Dead Ringers version are coincidental.
VERSE

We’re the Arctic Monkeys, we’re the coolest band around
The critics love our attitude and our retro guitar sound
But there’s just one problem(here’s the thing)
I’m really whiny and Northern (when I start to sing)
It’s like George Formby’s in a punk rock band
With a little ukulele in me hand in me hand oh!

Chorus
I bet Mr Wu’d look good on the dancefloor
He’s left the Limehouse laundry, he doesn’t work there anymore
Well I bet Mr Wu’d look good on the dancefloor
Dancing around to the Charleston like1924
Like 1924!

I went cleaning windows up in Blackpool town last year
Well you’d be surprised the things I saw through the windows there
There were girls with no clothes on (barely a stitch)
Well they must have been frozen (in their bras and their nicks)
Well I came down the ladder and I sat on the sand
With me little stick of rock in me hand in me hand oh!

Chorus
I bet that you look good on the dancefloor
I don't know if your looking for romance or...
I don't know what ya looking for
Well I bet Mr Wu’d look good on the dancefloor
Dancing to the Charleston like 1924
From 1924!

BRIDGE
Well we sing songs of sex and drugs and policemen on the beat
But it’s no lie to say I’d rather just be leaning on a lamppost on the corner of the street.

Chorus
I bet Mr Wu’d look good on the dancefloor
He’s left the laundry in Limehouse he doesn’t work there anymore
Well I bet Mr Wu’d look good on the dancefloor
Dancing to the Charleston like it’s 1924
Like it’s 1924!

Turned out nice again hasn’t it!
