Song Parodies -> "One Grey November"

Original Song Title:

"Untitled Poem"

Original Performer:

Al Gore

Parody Song Title:

"One Grey November"

Parody Written by:

Patrick McWilliams

The Lyrics

If Al Gore can write an inscrutable poem and get it on the Internet (which he invented) I figured I could, too. I don't know how long he spent on his work. I scratched this one out in about 20 minutes. I'm sure it looks like it.
One grey November soon
A baseless creed disappears
In the light of truth

Fears arise
Acid stirs within
Cherished doctrines dissolve

Snow falls on the mountain
Ice clogs the street
"Warming, warming" the mindless chant

Thirst is quenched
Fireworks fill the sky
For renewal's celebration

Too-familiar faces
Depart in haste, unmourned
Lear Jets await clearance

We are the heroes of our own play
The bells are rung
Our song is sung

The tyrants cry
Their algorithms could not foretell
We'd not be played for fools
All you literary critics have at it. T.S. Elliot, I'm not. Most of the time folks can figure out what I'm saying.

You may not be T.S. Elliot, but Al Gore isn't even Rod Mc Ewen (Now THERE'S an insult)! Great rip...the hardest thing to do is parody a travesty. ;D

Glad to see someone finally left a comment. The biggest challenge in writing poetry or songs is rhyming. Poems that don't rhyme are simply prose with wide margins. That's why it only took me a few minutes to crank this one out. Wonder how much time Algore spent on his original.
