The Lyrics

It occured to me that, throughout my time being a bad parody writer, I had not written a single word about Spam. What kind of a terrible person am I? Obviously, the kind who overlooks the most versatile food in the world as if it were sitting at the back of the pantry, unused. *blushes* Not that it is. Another note- I believe that this was originally a song by Bouncing Souls (is that right?), but the Aaron Carter version of this is just..so...ridiculous..I had to use it.
Intro:
Hey Justin... hey, it's Emi.
Listen, I can't eat out tonight
I´m going to eat this stuff...
No! What? This Spam is dandy!
It's all cubed;
I gotta go - see ya!

Spam is my world; it's what I eat
In the line of processed meat
It's microwave safe, though I require
Spam cooked o'er an open fire

I want canned meat!
I want canned meat!

People tell me with a solemn frown
They, all liars, bring me down
"Don't eat Spam, that's a doctor's order"
How I love salt, ham and water!

I want canned meat!
I want canned meat!

Deli cheese and meat, they say it's better
But I like canned meat with the big, yellow letters
Spam with prunes to make Spam wine
I love my canned meat all the time.

I want canned meat!
I want canned meat!
I want canned meat!
I want canned meat!

Canned meat in the afternoon
Spam scampi and Spam Rangoon
Canned meat in a fricassee
All I want is more canned meat!
Canned meat in the dark of night
(Spam Sushi is just not right)
Can't we maybe all agree?
All we need is more canned meat!

Thanks! Again, not sure who performed the original. I don't think I was alive then. *ducks flying produce*

Thanks, all. I'm still not sure who to trust on the original performance, but I think we can all agree that Aaron Carter has surpassed them all. I mean, it was already a silly song. Did it really need the obsessed-prepubescent-boy addition?

Very funny song. Solid parody, good job! Never would have even seen this sight had I not been looking for something else. Also funny to me, you're all sort of right about who sang it. I just spent a few hours looking for who had done the cover (the Bouncing Souls one) that I remembered from a mix tape someone made me when I was in high school. I knew that couldn't be Good Charlotte (who has also done it), because they weren't around, nor could it be Me First, because, well......it wasn't. The Strangeloves wrote and recorded it first (1965), though, then it was Bow Wow Wow (1982) (sorry, Agrimorfee, BWW's version is the one I know best, too, possibly because I was at least alive, albeit only 1yo), and a bunch of other people, but Bouncing Souls did it, too (track 8 on The Good, The Bad, And The Argyle, renamed "Candy" for the CD (1994)), and then a bunch since, including Veruca Salt (live), Good Charlotte, Aaron Carter (as you know), and, even more recently, Sporty Spice (for a movie). I think I'll just skip Aaron Carter's version, but Veruca Salt's might be interesting....
