Rick Allen lost his arm in a car wreck. At the time the doctors tried to reattach his arm but the procedure was unsuccessful resulting in amputation of his arm just below his elbow after gangrene set in. In spite of the loss of his arm Rick still continues to drum for Def Leppard using his one remaining arm and his feet. Rick wanted to keep his job and singer Joe Elliott said "he didn't want to take the time to train a new drummer."
