Story about this misheard lyric by: Robert Goodman My housemate has a compilation CD given him by his church of published recordings of the songs they sing. He plays it over and over, and this was on one of the cuts. I misheard a few of the other words too, but those little substitutions don't change the meaning, while this was a whole line. I didn't really hear the word "enlighten" but it's the only one that made sense in the context of what I thought I heard, and anything else I'd imagine Susie Brown doing to you would've been too dirty for them to sing in church. He didn't actually know the lyrics, said they project them when they sing in church. I just assumed that when the recording was made -- a live performance, big audience -- the singer would ad lib the name of someone in the audience or on stage that he knew.
