Well, in the '80s we still listened to a lot of radio, and our radios had a green light that would glow at night. Sometimes it was the turn dial, or the arrow that pointed to the station, and it would give off a soft green glow, so it just made sense to me that he would be saying dancing to the radio glow (plus neon lights were all the rage in the '80s).
