Story about this misheard lyric by: Tyvent

The song is mostly in English and French, but Fatoumata sings her parts in Bambara, a Malian language. The thing is, French language learners tend to mistake her lines for French since her lines usually start with the French word 'désolé'. In fact, the misheard lyric (at least to a non-native French speaker) and the real lyric sound exactly the same; oddly, the lyric isn't misheard, but the sounds mean entirely different things in French and Bambara.
Anyway, my friend and I were wondering how the song went from lamenting a difficult breakup to pitying a lonely water fowl.
