Original Song Title:

"Talkin’ To Myself (From “Gift of Gab”)"

Original Performer:

Ted Weems and his Orchestra

Parody Song Title:

"Give the Gift of GABB"

Parody Written by:

The Real Phil Ossifer

The Lyrics

OS comes from the 1934 Universal Studios film “Gift of Gab” and references the GABB phone for kids, which is out of stock as of this writing.
(One bar, no melody)
Give the gift of Gabb,
(Another bar, no melody)
Give the gift of Gabb,
Parents, here’s a phone for kids with all the fun out,
You can give the gift of Gabb.

(One bar, no melody)
I’ll buy it today,
(Another bar, no melody)
“Out Of Stock”, you say?
What a joke! Can’t even get my kid that new phone,
I can’t give the gift of Gabb!

I’ve told each mom and daddy,
On that small Facebook Group,
Those dads all think I’m crazy,
But the moms understand!

(One bar, no melody)
Give the gift of Gabb,
(Another bar, no melody)
Give the gift of Gabb,
But it’s out of stock; demand, they cannot meet it,
So, forget the gift of Gabb!

Pretty good.

Once again Phil Ossifer refuses to acknowledge the topic of the entry as well as the existence of the OS. It’s about a “safe smartphone” for kids that has no internet, games and other restrictions called GABB, which is currently out of stock due to parental demand. The OS comes from a 1934 film called “Gift of Gab”, hence the reason why I mixed the two subjects together. The Gabb/“Gift of Gabb” connection is obvious, but I wouldn’t expect you to get that. Try something novel: take three minutes out of your day to listen to the OS, coward.

Per YouTube upload of the OS: “This and the flip side “Blue Sky Avenue” were recorded during the first of two four-song sessions that Weems did for Columbia in-between his long associations with Victor/Bluebird and Decca. Both tunes were from the 1934 Universal film “Gift Of Gab,” with a song score by Con Conrad & Herb Magidson and an interesting cast lineup that included Edmund Lowe, Gloria Stuart, Ruth Etting, Phil Baker, Ethel Waters, Gene Austin, Chester Morris, Victor Moore, Andy Devine, the Gus Arnheim orchestra, and cameos by the studio’s horror stars Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi.”

Small lyrical change: should have substituted “That they can’t meet demand” for “on that small Facebook group”; heretofore, it would rhyme. How sad is it when a hyper-advertised safe smartphone for kids did not have the foresight to see that they couldn’t meet demand. “The parents think I’m crazy — but they don’t understand!”

“Thank you for your interest in the Gabb Phone! Due to high demand, this device is SOLD OUT. However, you can explore our newest model, the Gabb Phone 3 Pro. Flexible plan options allow parents to set up the perfect first phone with just the basics, or add features and apps for the kids and teens who need more, making the Gabb Phone 3 Pro the perfect choice.”

Wow, I had no idea you could read minds. At least it’s an interesting departure as regards subject matter.

^^^^^Phil Ossifer surprising no one by creating false commentary as well as being offended by the Gary McNamara story AGAIN. If you don’t like the way this site is going, then buy the Gabb phone. When they’re back in stock, that is. Talkin’ to myself, talkin’ to myself…

Looks like “duh reel Phil Ossifer” didn’t get a chance to comment on both my entries today. He really missed out on some fantastic content today. Or I guess he’s upset ‘cause I didn’t write about Gary McNamara today and he wouldn’t be offended. I ask because he loves getting upset over two syllables said at a +/- 50-year-old high school graduation ceremony, but hey, you do you.

Hey ‘tard-boy, I thought of a new religion for ya: Jehova’s Witlesses. I guess it’s also time to revisit the Phil Ossifer thing. As I’ve pointed out multiple times, it’s a name in the form of a pun. I realize that you had to bail on school around 2nd grade, so concepts like puns and wit are most likely foreign to you. Now back to logic. If my “attacks” are “grade-school”, why do you copy so many of the phrases when you reply?
