Misheard Song Lyrics -> Stories -> Clay Aiken

Misheard lyrics (also called mondegreens) occur when people misunderstand the lyrics in a song. These are NOT intentional rephrasing of lyrics, which is called parody. For more information about the misheard lyrics available on this site, please read our FAQ.

This page contains a list of the songs that have stories about their misheard lyrics submitted.

Song names are sorted by first letter, excluding A and The. This is sorted by song title only, not by song title and performer. So if two different performers preformed the same song, you'll see misheard lyrics for both on the same page (provided the song title was spelt the same both times, and misheard lyrics have been submitted for both!).

Clay Aiken's, " I Will Carry You "
The Misheard Lyrics:
That's the beauty of it
When you lose your weight.
The Real Lyrics:
That's the beauty of it
Wwhen you lose your way.
The Story: When I heard this lyric, I really thought Clay Aiken was singing about weight loss. So yeah, that's how I heard it as. - Submitted by: Jennifer
Clay Aiken's, "Invisible"
The Misheard Lyrics:
If I was invisible, I'd stalk you in your room.
The Real Lyrics:
If I was invisible, I'd watch you in your room.
The Story: I was sitting in the bus with my friends. (We were going on a school trip.) And the principal turned the radio on. We promised each other we'd sing to whatever song we knew. So when Clay Aiken's song came up, we all started singing even though we weren't fans of his. My principal is really conservative. Then suddenly, we all went 'If I were invisible, I'd stalk you in your room'. The principal freaked out. - Submitted by: Gina

The Misheard Lyrics:
If pots were unbreakable
The Real Lyrics:

The Story: This song is really funny and i have no idea why my brother downloaded it - for a laugh, perhaps? :-) We both thought he sang, 'If pots were unbreakable'. We both said, 'Who writes this crap about stalkers and crockery?' - Submitted by: Chellovsky
Clay Aiken's, "This Is the Night"
The Misheard Lyrics:
When the world wasn't inside out
The Real Lyrics:
When the world wasn't upside down
The Story: Having to do with the song "Upside Down" by Diana Ross, I thought it could have been hearing "upside down" as "inside out". - Submitted by: Cody Finke
